your next car?

I want to know what your next car of choice is going to be that is within your price range and planning to get soon. Let me say before I reveal my choice that I have not been so damn excited about an American vehicle like this in a long time. The car looks so good and has so much power under the hood that I was amazed to see the price on it. What car am I referring to, I'm talking about the 2006 Dodge Charger SRT-8 edition, the color I'm in love with is the black one.

I plan to put a 6 thousand dollar down payment around mid November and purchase it under a 5 year finance. I'm only going to make a few modifications with it. I'm going to install blue HID head lights and fog lights and clear the orange turn signals. I also plan to put some hot sports rims on it, maybe BBS. Check this link out. It comes with a 6.1 liter V8 , 425 horsepower engine stock and its roomy inside with a good looking interior and an amazing body and here is the best part, it's only around $35,000.00 starting price.

Here is a link of a video if anyone is interested.

Please feel free to post pics/videos/info on the next ride you're planning to purchase.

Sorry but I dont need to compensate for a lack of something by buying a big engined car... let alone a chrysler.

Enjoy your shit gas milage as oil hits 90+ a barrel in the near future.

Wow... what a timing of a thread about this. I'll be getting a new car in a month. I'm so happy, I can't wait.

I am getting the Honda Civic 2006. Putting 3 grand for down payment so ill be looking at 300 month not to bad for now until i get my dream car...Acura TL awww.

Posted by getfoul on Sep-04-2006 09:46:

i already have my dream sedan, so next up it has to be my dream coupe... That spans over three different price ranges.

1998 TT Supra ~ 35,000.

2004 Porsche 996 TT GT3 ~ 130,000

2004 Ferrari 575M ~ 200,000

Funny, cause the prius will end up costing the same if not more in the long run (HUGE battery replacement bill in th near future) then your basic civic.

Get a yaris or a fit if you're lookin for great milage and cheap car.

I don't need a fancy car to boost my ego, as long as it gets me to work & back and has a CD player I'm happy.

Im with you Sambo, but its too expensive for me. My next car is going to have to be used. And to the lame-o's who think a Prius is a bad investment because of the money - thats not what its about. Its about not burning as much fuel into the atmosphere. Whores.

Anyways, Im going for the

Is it standard for FORD to not list things like GAS MILEAGE on their websites? I cant find a single piece of information about this car's engine.

The funny thing about this thread is that it is starting to turn into a 'whats your dream car' thread again. The starter wanted to know what car we are going to be buying. The thread starter is obviously going to be buying that chrysler (and for many reasons I have a bad taste in my mouth with them).

Read what this thread is about and dont post your dream cars. I take for granted how 'dee dee dee' some people on this site can be.

Im really buying a VW. Used, but its going to happen.

Doesnt have a CD player though. That kills.

If you can save up a few hundred more.. thats all it would take to buy and have one installed.

Or else get an FM/cassette adaptor for your mp3 player?

Or get an adapter for an Ipod/MP3 player. Mp3 player > CD Player

its under teh "Gas consumption, emissions, and mileage" section in the specs

Ill be getting something AWD, spacious, and sporty.

Im looking towards WRX wagon right now or the STI wagon if it hits US.

we shall see. although VW GTI is pretty coo.

So many options though. Ill be more serious in about 6 months when I am back home in Washington and going to need a car for work.

*keeps dreaming*

If you get a 99 or later (may vary in some models) VW with a radio that supports a cd changer (I believe most do), then I recommend a Phatnoise. Its a Linux computer that plugs in like a cd changer and works as an mp3 player. It comes with a 20GB cartrdige which travells to your computer, where you load the songs via USB then to your car where it plugs into the box. It works like a cd changer with infinite* discs. If 20gb isnt enough for you, you can buy cartridges up to 120GB.
(* - infinite may not refelct numbers greater than 1337)

Downsides of this product -
1. The radio face does not display artist/track, etc information. Im not sure if adding a third party head unit would change that or not.
2. There is an annoying text to speech voice that cannot be disabled and attempts to tell you the name of every "disc" you are on. I knew it was in trouble when it couldn't handle 'Gorillaz - Demon Days', but its garbling of 'Wighnomy Borthers and Robag Whrume - Remikks Potpurri' was attrocious.

In all, this box cost me $150 dollars and was basically plug and play installation with the accompnaying $10 mounting kit. Thats about the price I had planned to spend on a head unit for this car, so it seemed justified and I now have 20GB of music wherever i go.

On topic, I really would like to get an A*=8 for my next car, but Id settle for an a6..
