I can't remember exactly how I voted but I believe it was something like this
1. Yoji
2. Eddie Halliwell
3. Carl Cox
4. Speedy J
5. Steve Lawler
I voted for Carl and Lawler last year but this year they have both moved down the scale.
None of the top 5 from last year even made my top 25.

You all are so cool with your dislike of the popular DJs.

I wouldn't say its a dislike of the popular DJs as much as it is a change in tastes....besides....I've never been a follower....I do my own thing.
I can't honestly vote for DJs who have literally put me to sleep when they were spinning......sorry....I just can't do it.

1). Paul Van Dyk - He's legendry, great sets at Roseland, Central park, Space @ Miami
2). Armin Van Buuren - 2005/2006 has been Armin's year.
3). Yoji Biomehanika - Personal favorite. A bit underrated.
4). Giuseppe Ottaviani
Eric Prydz - And no he is not overrated. He is facking UNDERRATED.
Posted by Trancekyd on Sep-14-2006 16:01:

I just find it peculiar you keep pointing out in every thread that appeared about the top DJs polls, that the most popular DJs don't even make it into your top 25. Like it somehow matters or makes you more "underground" than the people who voted for PVD or Ferry.
Carl Cox, for example, was #1 for a couple of years before. So it wasn't last year, but what does it matter? He was the most popular DJ some time before, and that apparently didn't stop you from voting for him this year.
Nobody's forcing or even asking you to vote for the popular DJs, yet you (and I'm noticing Sasha going down that road as well) trumpet the fact that you don't vote for popular DJs like you deserve a trophy for it or something.
Edit: I'm nto going to debate this anymore btw. Everyone here votes for who they want, not because Tiesto tells them to.

The "oh the DJs *I*'m voting for are all new entries" and the "oh swedish house mafia is soooo overrated" (yet I'm willing to bet my left nut you'd first in line to go see any one of them if they came here).
Nobody, for example, took the time to point out that Armin is overrated (I'm sure there are more than enough people who think that), but you did. That's where I took my assumptions from.

I can see how you might come to that conclusion but trust me....I am far from "underground". Carl Cox was the man who got me into this music some 10 to 12 years ago....time goes by so fast.....so he will always be in my top 5. Last year....I will admitt.....I voted for AVB and Tiesto.....but my taste has changed and now...they wouldn't make my top 25. A big reason why my taste has changed is because I got tired of the same DJs touring the Toronto scene.....you can almost mark your calender for next year as to when and which DJs will be back in town.
IMHO EDM is probably the most evolving music around and with this evolution peoples tastes will change.....look how house music has really caught on in Toronto......and I can already see more people starting to like Techno......I personally think Techno will be then next big thing in Toronto.
oh and by the way...I voted for Eddie because Tiesto told me to
