Paul Oakenfold - Not Over

Heard this on Sirius, Awsome track IMHO. Better than the Original from Grace. Anyone Fimiliar with the track? I bet it sounds awsome in the club.

Posted by montana on Oct-24-2006 16:11:

it's horrible & redudant. Oakenfold butchers His & Steve Osbourne (heavy emphasis on osbourne)'s classic.

Posted by DJ Legs on Oct-24-2006 16:15:

Are you talking about the track itself? There are 2 Mixes from Oakenfold that I know of... And of course, Thats your Opinion. I happen to really enjoy the track.

Posted by montana on Oct-24-2006 16:20:

Grace = Paul Oakenfold, Steve Osbourne & Dominique Atkins

Osbourne & Oakenfold produced the original Not Over Yet in 1993 with Dominique Atkins on vocals

1995 came BT Mixes

1999 came the Breeder Mixes (and also some shit remixes by Anthony Acid & DJ Skribble)

2006 came Oakenfold's Remake. it's horrible, it's redudant. and it's just yet another sign thtat oakenfold is just a washed up, out-of-ideas, talantless monkey

Sounds like something Anjunabeats would churn out.

Now see, The original from 1993 has Horrable Vocals i think. The Newer one is much Cleaner and Strait Forward IMHO Of Course... Because a DJ Mixes a Tune doesnt neccesaraly mean he is out of ideas, maybe he thought he could better the song?

He tried to better CJ Bolland - The Prophet on his last album. I loled.

I like the new vocals and the new lyrics, the melodies and the production aren't that exciting, so overall it's a decent tune i would say.

"Paul Oakenfold - Not Over" ?

More like "Paul Oakenfold - DEFINITELY Over"

He should take his money and retire quietly, rather than embarrass himself with pathetic mixing and awful remixes of classic tunes.

I don't think those two songs should even be compared. This is so different from the old one it's a totally new song.

I agree. Although I do like the updated version.

It's all about BT's Spirit of Grace Mix

Posted by DJ Legs on Oct-24-2006 22:37:

Mixed Reviews huh. And no, I wasnt joking.

Original and BT Remix rock. Simply awesome, it's amazing how BT manages to make the track uplifting anf euphoric, and funky at the sametime. The piano breakdown is to die for too.

The 2006 Oakey version I also love. Maybe not the most serious of trancer, but its damn catchy and the male vocal is good, and works. What's more few can argue that it isn't the best track on his recent album.

dj legs can u change your signature. that is the ugliest fuck i have ever seen and it is hurting my eyes.....

but oakenfold has been around now for more than 25 years, he had to run out of ideas eventually lol

Posted by SYSTEM-J on Oct-25-2006 02:08:

Why would he need to better it? BT has already remixed it.

the difference being that anjuna has never had a re-release in the 6-7 years they've been running, above & beyond have never remade any of their original works.
