all you firefox version 2 users

its out officially and if you have updated you might have noticed your alt + s does not submit posts anymore. after a quick search I found this.

http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?t=446830

which has a solution..

quote:

Yes, I found this change annoying too. You can either use Shift-Alt+S to submit or you can change it back to how it was using about :config
Change:
ui.key.chromeAccess to 5
ui.key.contentAccess to 4

This will allow you to use Alt for webpage shortcuts and Shift-Alt for Firefox's menu shortcuts

and it works!

could this post belong in tech and gadget forum...prolly, but I thought a start here would be nice and thena move later to there would be wonderful.

I actually found out the alt -s thing a long time back and have been using it for years, any other method seems odd to me.

its right where my pinkys are, nice quick fluid motion
and also i frequently have one hand on tab to ctrl-tab or alt-tab windows so it's used to going there

Posted by Boomer187 on Oct-25-2006 05:52:

ah, I just use my left thumb which is kinda by the space and alt button and hit the s with the same hand.

thanks I haven't laughed like that in years.

Im thinking mezz and I type the same. On good days I can clock a lot of WPM, but on bad days I can't type for poo. plus I always mess up the...cept just then.

Posted by mezzir on Oct-25-2006 06:05:

its funny, with opera and shit i can think of pros and cons vs firefox, but with ie...its just too easy

Posted by gehzumteufel on Oct-25-2006 06:06:

lol to be honest i use ie cause less software to install. and since i use vista ie7 is built in. oh and firefox has a HUGE memory leak..unless they fixed it in v2

Posted by Boomer187 on Oct-25-2006 06:08:

there was a HUGE memory leak with the last version i was using, pissed me off. But it seems fine now.

its the tabbed browsing and killer pop-up blocker that keeps me with firefox. i still have to encounter java and flash on this version, but it is getting better.

ie7 = tabbed

and ie7 popup blocker is a lot better than ie6

its actually a lot LESS integrated in the sense of the way ie was integrated into windows 98-xp. its made it a LOT more stable. ie is even more stable too. crashes less but then again on vista its still beta.

and vista runs REALLY good now. it was a total resource hog and ran like shit. i have been running vista for about 6 months now. gone through about 3 major build updates and its heaps better. i need to install RC2 still but im just lazy.
