Had my first gig last night!!!

Was excellent! After it took us about 45 minutes to get their shit mixer to work things took off. The mixer was basically only good for crossfading in and out of tracks, even though there was no crossfaders, just the channel volume. There was no tweaking of the equalizers. So I had to make due with that and I'm not gonna lie, every mix was still on point. Sometimes you just gotta make the best of what you got.

Finally, my friends boyfriend showed up with his Pioneer mixer and we quickly hooked it up. Started my set fresh with some nice beats riding with sweet melodies and worked it into progressive house and ended the set with Quivver - One Last Time (Amityville Dub Mix).

3 more people played after me and the night just went up and up with each track played. Was so awesome to see the regulars there dancing just as much as we were because I believe that is the first night this place has had an EDM night.

All in all, sick night and I'm so happy with how I did. Lot's of people came up to me and said they enjoyed the set.

No need to close out with trance. With the proper choons you can still eat all the other DJ's collective lunch at 120BPM.

Congrats on the gig.

Thank ya much. And yeah, you are right but the other dj's played trance basically or some other form of EDM at a higher BPM so I and the girl throwing the party didn't think it would be proper for them to open with that style. I've learned to play and love other styles so I have no problem what slot I get at this point. Besides, I played some monsters which were at lower BPMs anyway.

True its best to arrange the night in that fashion. Theres nothing worse than going to see a headliner and the guys warming up for him are playing 140 BPM club remixes.

Ya!

Posted by DOOMBOT on Oct-27-2006 02:00:

From what I remember...

Extrawelt - Soopertrack
Dominik Eulberg & Gabriel Ananda - Schierker Kreisel
Sierra - Interlope (Chris Delay's Primezeit Mix)
Mass G & Gideon Jackson - Push It
The Shapeshifters & Chic - Sensitivity (Cedric Gervais & Second Sun Mix)
Piece Process - United Nations
Harry Lemon - Tiga (Harry's Triple T Mix)
Hardy Heller & Inkfish - Darkness (Andre Absolut Mix)
Quivver - One Last Time (Quivver's Amityville Dub)

No particular order except I know the first 2 is what I played in order and the last 3 are correct. The middle part is a bit mixed I'm sure and I played a few other tracks I can't remember right now. Was a nice flowing set and I had a lot of fun with it. Wish I recorded it.

I was asked to play within the next month or so. Dunno how definite it is but I definitely have another in early January.

Check out the mix in my sig if you like those tracks man. I've come a long way and since I have begun dj'ing it has really opened up a window for me. I am playing, listening, and loving so many different tracks, styles, and genres I never thought I would have.

Oh I grabbed that a few days back from DJ Promo

Just wading through a bunch of stuff, but I'll get to it soon and let you know what I think

Just one tip, I know you're been looking for some feedback for your mix, and the best possible way to get it is to post up a review for others from time to time. I've said this a million times on here lately, but you get what you give as far as feedback goes - And generally the mixes that get the most attention aren't necessarily the best by any means, but from those who put a fair amount of time into reviewing others work

I remember laughing at the guy who sold me my technic turntables. He asked what I was going to spin and when I told him trance he said it would change. I laughed and said no way. Jokes on me!

I still spin trance from time to time and really enjoy it, but there is so much more music out there it would be a shame to confine yourself to only one style.
