Audiojelly Launches Independent Artists Store

| "Having recently completed upgrades to the Audiojelly Store, the team behind Europe's leading dance music download portal have now launched a new store for independent artists across the world. Ajtunes.com is the first dedicated download store in dance music to give independent artists the opportunity to showcase and sell their music to a global consumerbase. With one of the highest royalty rates on the internet for download sales, Ajtunes will change the landscape for unsigned artists, giving them the platform to promote their music with high profile coverage, as well as earning arguably the best income for sales of their music. Co-founder of Audiojelly Ricky Simmonds commented: "With the recent upgrades to the main Audiojelly store, we now have better navigation, a better layout and a much more comprehensive system for customers buying music from their favourite labels and artists. We have chosen to implement all these features over the last few months, prior to launching the AJtunes store, which we believe is a long overdue service for the thousands of independent artists around the world who have music that is not signed to a label. All music on AJtunes.com is sold on a non-exclusive basis, so artists are free to promote or sell their music anywhere else (online or offline). Artists also have complete control of managing their own music content, and the choice to sell their tracks at any price they choose. If an artist or a track is signed up by a label, there are no issues involved - as every artist can remove their tracks at any time they wish. If you are an independent artist looking to promote and sell your music, simply visit AJTunes.com to create an account and get your music onto the store. " www.ajtunes.com |

maybe this will give producers incentive to get out of the digi market?
lets go buy Ejay soft and rock the world
Birdie

Why would producers want to get out of the digi market?..
I found there IMPRESSIVE stuff....
gestalth in the hard dance category.. and I don't understand in that area where is this artist music is link to the label where he signed...
for conclusion there is top class stuff and there is ejay crap
not good imo.
its great to be able to promote/sell your own material. but due to the fact that people can upload their own music within minutes without needing to sort out legal issues like agreements then it will mean that people will end up uploading anything..
in the long run there will be so much ejay crap on there that it wont be worth trying to find the 1 in a hundred decent tune.
or.... if audiojelly are stricter on who they sign up then this could mean the death of digital labels..?
Yeah there should be some quality control brought in - as i mentioned before, some tunes on there sound like they were made in a few mins with default loops & synths..
Theres also going to be a copyright issue - the audiojelly team are going to have to lisen to every second of every song in case there are sample taken from other productions
Myabe the end will be good
So,I'm optimistic
Birdie

Ive already put a few songs up that didnt get signed : www.ajtunes.com/magdelayna
Obviously im only going to pick my best unsigned tracks - it would interesting seeking out gems from other producers that labels missed..
I've also signed up and posted my latest tune "Pasado Distante" on there.

all i know is that AJ is going to make a killing with this. 49.00L a year? shaft. I don't think many under-rated un-signed producers will make more then that on sales in a year, but hey they can try now
Personaly I believe that if you believe in your music enough to want to sell it and promote it and do all the work for it- then why shouldnt you have the chance.
but- soundclick.com lets you sell any tracks you want for as much as you want minus the yearly fees...
best of luck to them- catalin.
ha imo this is very cool. Better than digital labels by far.
One downside I can see for independant artists who are wanting to have any success similar to being on a label is that they can't, won't or are unable to put in the time and effort to promote the track the same way a label would.
Saying that, hat's off to anyone confident enough to put up some tunes and go it alone. Hope they get what they want from it.
Also, like someone has already mentioned, it does open the flood gates to alot of shit getting on there.
Seems to be a reflection of the web "ideals" in general - as in, providing an outlet for free speech and free markets and empowering the little guy. So in that sense, it's a good thing; artists should be able to sell to the public without having to go through a distributor, because that's the way it works with most other goods and services.
Of course, it also means that those people will have to do all of their own marketing and promotion. And you know what that means... a metric fucktonne of spam in this forum advertising crap tracks on AJ for $3.00 apiece.
When you release your track through a label, they make an independent judgment about how much it's "worth". As we all know, producers are anything but objective about the value of their own tracks. So expect to see a lot of overpriced, overpromoted garbage on there. But there might also be some rare material from timid but talented artists.
That's how free markets usually turn out, after all... 99% of the output is junk, but the 1% at the top is far better than anything you'd ever find in a feudal system (which is what I'd call the label-dominated industry as it currently stands). Eventually, consumers will adjust; they'll learn how to filter out the noise and find what they really want.
It's mp3.com all over again.
I think it's a great place to put up stuff that's just not good enough for labels, but good enough for some support. Actually I hope this will kill some of the crappy digital labels. Plus there is no need to put up a crappy small label because you can put music online for sale this way. Only thing is you need to promote it yourself, but that's a good thing cause if you want to grow, you need a network anyways.
For me it's a chance to get some polished oldies up! Which I just did! After I finished some remastering
.
Album: Neotune Crystals
I hope this just results in quality of labels and this being the big pool for less stuff. The good tracks will come float on top...?
i think its a good way of getting your musik out there.... i know there a small fee but i think its worth it.....in the end what else have we got that will do this for unsinged artist...theres not many platforms that will do this for people who are just trying to experiment with new ideas and styles....audio jelly also do some promotion of your musik so thats got to be a good thing....good luck to all who sign up......i did.
its a small price to pay for an excellent service..

this doesnt add anything to the music scene imo... i think it wont last long... i would never put up my older tracks or something up there, isnt it way more satisfying to become better and wait till ur reach the level for some decent record labels.
Putting ur music online like this decreases the motivation to become better and reach a professional level, because its so easy to sell them... i dunno guys
Actually i don't care, had a quick look through some tunes, didnt bother me much and i think i will never visit AJtunes again

Its 75 % royalties which is better than most labels but without all the promotion you would need..
Yep AJ will make quite a bit of money out of this..
I think this is a great thing in many ways. The best thing about it is the ability to get exposure on one of the most well-known, online EDM shops. Soundclick seems to have a pretty low volume of traffic, even when tracks are free downloads, it's just dissapointing. You can spam forums all day, and only get a few people to check out even your free tracks. People come to shop at AJ anyway, so perhaps they will take a quick look at the indie artist section. Ability to set your own prices means that you can sell tracks cheap, thereby increasing the possiblilty that you will actually sell a few. That's one problem I see with Indie digital labels, they have to sell tracks at the same price the major labels do, in order to make enough money to keep their account active.
There are other downsides to Digital labels. For one, it takes 5 weeks for new tracks to go up. With AJ tunes, your new tracks can go up instantly, wow! And honestly, you get about the same exposure as you would with a digital label. Most digital labels don't promote their artists anyway, because they don't have a budget for it, it's understandable. So if you are good at promoting yourself, you can do as good, or even better with AJ tunes. I'll be creating an AJ account, I'm excited about this. Who knows though, it could be no better or worse than soundclicks. We'll see.
