Shame / Disagreement What Not To Do To/With/At a DJ

Read em and add some more.

Just to start you guys off, here are a couple:

- Don't mistake the DJ for a bartender and ask him/her for a drink.(has happened to John '00' Fleming I believe)

- Don't request a bajillion tracks while they're spinning.

- Don't ask them their life story while they're spinning.

Posted by Jayx1 on Nov-18-2006 20:17:

dont bother them at all when they are spinning....

if u really must talk to them, wait until they look over at you and if they dont it means they dont want to talk to you. Because they DO know you are there

And dont take them not wanting to talk to you personally. They are there to do a job. Much like you wouldnt go on stage and bug a drummer during a rock concert, same thing here.

-don't touch the equipment without permission

Posted by Jayx1 on Nov-18-2006 20:26:

anyone remember those shirts that said "fuck off im mixing" on the back of them?

Posted by chinaboy1021 on Nov-18-2006 20:47:

dont go nuts to try to build energy when they're shit.

Posted by Ni-Cd on Nov-18-2006 21:00:

Especially don't bother them in the middle of a mix!! Maybe this is a good spot to say not to try drumming on a hand-drummer's djembey without permission either! And as I saw at the zone last Sunday, don't wave your hands conductor style in front of them for an hour straight.

Posted by Gypsy on Nov-18-2006 21:06:

don't spill your drink on their records like my friend did last newyears.

luckily he just laughed and gave her another one.

Posted by sufee_b on Nov-18-2006 21:12:

- Don't tell em what to play or what not to play...if you dont like the style then get the fuk out

Posted by Cribby on Nov-18-2006 21:21:

- Don't sleep with them

Posted by kuttiyil on Nov-19-2006 00:07:

Do not look at them while they're DJiing....

Posted by ChemEnhanced on Nov-19-2006 00:15:

- Don't ask them if they know Tiesto
- Don't throw your shirt at them and ask them to sign it
- Don't hold flags or signs up so they can see them
- Don't give them any attention what so ever as this will make them think they are bigger then they actually are....remember...they are circus animals brought there for our entertainment.

Dont throw your loose change into the dj booth!

- Don't ask an EDM DJ to play hip hop

- Don't try to grab their attention by throwing stuff at them

- Don't keep sticking the camera in their face and blinding them with the flash

- Don't try to jump/hug/touch/grope/grab/tap/nudge/shake hands with them if you know you're sketchy as fuck and covered in sweat!

Posted by Tordan on Nov-19-2006 00:20:

thought of a few more...

- Don't try to impress the DJ with your dancing skills... in the middle of the DJ booth

- Don't ask the DJ to give shout-outs

- Don't keep introducing your friends to the DJ while (s)he's playing

- Don't keep bagging on the DJ booth walls like a monkey in heat

More like just plain don't request anything, let them do their job...they're not Casey Kasem ffs.

Don't ask them to play 'something you can dance to'.

bwahaha. No, deejay whores are pet peeves of mine.

Posted by Orbitus on Nov-19-2006 02:32:

Don't bump into their Turntable if they're spinning vinyl.
Don't sit or stand on their brand new speakers.
Don't step on any critical wires.
Don't put drinks on or near any of their equipment. (It's VERY expensive.)
Basically don't touch any of their frigging equipment!

My pet peeves when I used to DJ and set up for events.
