Home Speakers ?

Anyone else a freak for audio quality?

Right now i have Altec Lansing computer speakers (2.1 system)but am very unhappy with the quaity. At first i thought it was the MP3s i had and thought they were low quality so i went through most of them and the ones i found to be the worst i rebought from Beatport and i see no difference in sound quality.

Now i am coming to the conclusion that my speakers are junk despite the fact they were quite expensive.

So what are some ofthe best of the best home speakers you can buy?

I am looking at Logitechs

What does everyone recomend in the 300-400 price range? I dont think i will go with Altec Lansings again cus they seem to be blowing out and i heard Loigtechs are really good.

Is this for PC use or TV/Theater?

Sorry this is strictly for MP3 payback...nothing more - so PC use.
I forgot to mention i have an external Creative sound card.

AL is alright... I am not sure about logitech tho.

I am a biased Klipsch user. I use the promedia 2.1

By far the best PC speakers I've heard. For your price range I would point you to the promedia 5.1 system. Retails in the range you are looking for:

The Bose PC speakers are not that good IMO. Home Theater... YES. But they try to reproduce the whole spectrum from one driver (excluding lows from the sub). They sound bigger than they look, but if you like loud crisp clear music... dont go bose. Bose gives good audio at low volumes (clear crisp bass etc) and good at moderate levels. To me, the Klipsch outshone the Bose. I was looking at the 2.1 system from bose for the PC and decided to go Klipsch. Its all upto your ear tho.

Thats how the Altec Lansings i have now are - really good at low volumes, but when i crank it up it's all distorted and plain horrible. I want something that will sound clean at relatively high levels. I am about to go check out the Klipsch.

How do you pronounce Klipsch? (Klip-sssh?)

Great deal! I couldn't have been more clear

The Klipsch ProMedia 2.1's are decent. My roommate has them.

Only get 5.1 if you:
a. have a card that supports it
b. will actually be playing things that were recorded/mixed in 5.1 (movie DVDs, more recent games, etc.) If you're just listening to mp3s (typically recorded in stereo), then there really isn't a compelling reason to go 5.1.

seriously? can you explain

Posted by Sunsnail on Dec-02-2006 23:14:

He means that there wont be a different sound coming out of each of the speakers.

Posted by DarkFall01 on Dec-02-2006 23:23:

Do you have a good sound card as well? I think if you have a crappy card it won't sound good anyway.
Also, don't go Bose, they're not that great. They recently came out with new ones, but I haven't tried those.
Look at Klipsch, Boston, Polk?, Harmon Kardon.
The ones mentioned look pretty good.
