Infusing current sound of trance with the classics

Hey.
I find that not enuf producers/ remix artists are remixing tracks from the past. Who agrees with me here.
Wouldnt it be cool to hear a remix of Lange - "Drifting Away" by a current pioneer in the trance industry like Hawk. I find that with a classic being remixed it brings a sort of reminiscent feeling to the song that makes it quite exquizite. I'm not saying that Lange - Driftin Away (Hawk Remix) is the best example but it kind of gives you the idea.
However Most voacl trance from 2000, 2001 that became popular have somewhat became extinct. I think that by bringing them back by infusing them with the current sounds of trance like Probspot, Leama and Moor, and a few others like Hawk (I could name more just not off the top of my head). I think that the elements combined from the past and the present could make for a quite beautiful future in trance, I'm ready fo it!

example would be like Opus III - Fine Day (Leon Boiler Remix) or the the Dallas Superstars remix of "Fine DAy"
more tracks like this would be good for the industry in my opinion. It might even prove to be somewhat of a revival, not that trance is currently in need of revival.

I'm just suggesting. Opinions?

Yeah, I think you guys summed that up pretty well.

i've been into the genre for a while, and while i'm not agreeing or disagreeing with your track suggestions, i will say that there are a number of older tracks that i plan on reconditioning once i have reason up and i'm fluid with it.

so yes, i do agree that remaking/producing old tracks (some should stay in the past though) is not a bad thing at all.

oh, btw, i'm new here, hello

yes your arguments are weak. because it's a fact that the majority of the re-releases of tracks are made by labels not to breath in some fresch air into the old track but just to have it remixed by some half famous lamers which often pay NO tribute to the original and the results come out weak as hell. There are hundreds of releases with new remixes not even worth the name.

It would be really really sweet if someone would remix Cafe Del Mar one day.

Clearly you're not listening to enough trance if you think there are not enough remakes. They are everywhere.

Now that's just silly.

Tiestin van Mini-Van would be the better choice for that mash-up.

I stand corrected.

Just give it time and Sean Tyas will remix them all.

I can barely understand what the hell you are saying. is it even pertinent? I don't know why you are arguing with me.

And Mr Mystery ... lame
Nehow
I can name quite a few tracks that have recently been "reconditioned". And most of them suck. Which brings me to my point. why arn't producers like Hawk Probspot, Leama and Moor etc etc etc remixing tracks like "Drifting Away" etc etc ect. Instead they're mixing current shit tunes and don't even do any justice to the original ever.

BTW for future reference don't bother to make contributions to my posts in the futre if they are childish, or I will start doing it to yours and see how you lie it.

so no good remixes out there worth mentioning?

My point exactly.

Producers you are slacking!

Binary Finary 2007!!!!!!!!!!! (Selu Vibra remix)

lol....this is def. a funny thread...2001 vocal trance as a breath of fresh air for modern trance?!?

Chicane saltwater 2006 is the perfect example of why the OP is wrong

Posted by thoughtlessjex on Dec-07-2006 03:26:

Dunno

Hawk and Leama & Moor make good remixes?

Actually, I generally don't care for modern remixes of classic tunes. For the most part, the remixes are of tracks that stand perfectly well on their own and don't need remixes, most of the rest are just plain worse than the original. The few good remixes out ther, I must not have heard yet, because I've not heard a good one yet.

No. Here's an idea. If you want originality and creativity in trance, you don't encourage people to remake perfectly good fucking tracks. You encourage them to stop rehashing and recycling and start moving the fuck forward, making new classics with new sounds and new techniques, rather than the same shit we heard one-too-many-times before in approximately 2002.

And Probspot are crap.

Agreed. Great classics don't need remaking unless the remaker has a quite different aproach than the original, not just "updating" the sound with fresh gear. Like you said, if you have a perfectly good classic track why try to beat it with something that sounds almost the same?

If people are looking for trance with a new aproach i might use the opportunity for some self promotion Many people claim my work released at J00F last summer is the freshest aproach on trance music in years and deserves more attention. Since it's not the basic ASOT-stuff nor the minimal house type of music, not even the regular psy stuff, not many DJs use it since the structure, soundings and feelings are quite different. Therefore i have to kinda fight for the attention you know

Check out my sig and visit my site for sound samples.
Thanks!

it probably doesnt happen as frequently as house music (since house is based on sampling the old) but your point is not valid. There are alot of 2005 2006 remixes these days of classic tracks.
