[ROLL CALL] : Groundhog Day w/Josh & Dave

turns out a massive h-town crew is heading to the G&D show this friday, so the brit and i are jetting down* to join in the messiness. gabriel & dresden have been banging out MASSIVE sets lately -- i'm certain they won't disappoint.

who's in?

and to the locals -- what's bar rio like?

* don't fret, steve, we'll be back in time for your gig

Not worried about that. Just can't believe that you are going to miss A&B to go to the Barrio (sorry Nathan, had to steal it)

in the ghetto side of town. i went there for a reggaeton party (of course, that would bring the ghetto of all ghetto's out from h-town) and it was a mess. too many cadillacs in deep need of dynomat.

I think with Gab/Dres there will be less of this. Hopefully the normal folks will indeed swarm the place.

The club is pretty cool overall.

how are things like the layout, bar prices, and parking? any chance of comparing them to places like m-bar, warehouse, or eden?

more importantly -- are you going to the show?

definitly not m-bar or warehouse. havent been to eden yet but i see the place every once in a while. Parking is decent. I didnt get charged for the reggaeton party but one of my friends went up there on a saturday night and paid $5...so i dont know about this friday as far as parking. Bar prices, i have to say are a little too high for the kind of bartenders they have there. Some of those guys dont even know where they keep the beer. During the reggaeton bash i got a beer and it was a little warm. There are a number of bartenders though, so hopefully that changes.

Layout its pretty nice i must say. Especially for a Gab/Dres show I think they actually did good in choosing the venue. I'd rather do Planeta than warehouse anyday for trance.

THIS JUST IN:::
I'm going to the show with my friend Javier. See ya'll there!

already going for most-consecutive-posts-in-a-single-thread award?

G&D live. it's almost not fair to compare their shows cause each is different, depending on the guys' moods and the crowd's response. i heard their last gig at sky wasn't up to par, but i can vouch that the two days immediately following [boston/chicago] were the best two sets i've ever heard from them. here's the set from RISE in boston. their style's definitely migrated away from emo trance and towards dirty electro.

and i can't praise them enough about their last set @ vision chicago -- legendary. here are some videos and pics from the show. sorry for the crap audio, but you get the idea.

HA wow. def didn't expect those pics after your reggaeton night reference looks class...

if y'all ever get the chance to go to vision -- DO IT!

and the first video on that link -- that's the encore at 430am. lights up, angry bouncers, and a thousand hammered people singing along to TTD

lol well, i guess it's more the mood and atmosphere that changes clubs, rather than just looks and what not. It definitly didnt look that clean when Tego Calderon was there a while back. The place was filled with the dirtiest ghettomen of houston. It just didnt really seem like the place for reggaeton. Hell, I offered my friend to leave just minutes before the show even started. I was afriad I'd look like swiss cheese after leaving that place.

damn that looks like one helluva night at Vision. I dont know what it is about it, but those huge cape things they put inside clubs from wall-to-wall-to ceiling (like at ICE Las Vegas) just makes a club look sickening. I wish we had those types here..

never been to ICE but know what you mean vision's one of my favorite clubs state-side. the only prob with their sail/sheet/cape thing is that it blocks the view for a lot of people on the 2nd & 3rd floors.

check out the honey club in brighton, UK -- saw halliwell there last year. they've got it going ON! sails make for lush visuals when you've got laser & strobe action :

God, that's KEY right there! If I ever own a club, that's definitly one thing I'm throwing in the budget.

You don't need the bottle. Just mention gay porn and you'll get that reaction
