Guys...let him go...he's new and from the US....

LoL, prepare to be flamed. Alot of those songs you mentioned are considered "cheesy trance" around here.

Oh yeah, welcome to trancEaddict also

well im not gonna bash him. everyone starts sometime, it just seems the drugs came first in this case... but drugs are fun! (if used responsibly) and there are a fair amount of choons that give me that ol' roll back feeling (no, not Wal Mart ladies and gentlemen). now i cant REMEMBER any off the top of my head...but it happens. and not to castles in the sky.

Listen to Origin - Refined Intricacy 99 (rmx) and suck on them apples! Thanx Swamper! heh heh...late/

Wow you guys sure are nice to new commers No seriously, over the years I have grown up with Hip Hop and Rap and a half a year ago I had enough with the same old stuff and I was introduced to trance music by a friend of mine in europe. So maybe my style is "old skool" to u guys, but maybe you could help lead me on the right path. Is that ok master?

'tis true... How else does one find out about trance?

1. Realize that pop music sucks.
2. Realize that cheesy dance music has great beats.
3. Realize that trance is much better than cheesy dance music.

Heh, sounds like Dancehall synthpop to me. Where's the trance in that list?

Posted by c0ld 0ne on Apr-03-2002 09:21:

meh...

Urban train is an ok track, nothing that will get a crowd going, that's for sure!

Posted by Devbert on Apr-03-2002 09:29:

It's ok you guys. He'll learn

I'm lucky, because I started out listening to Trance Control, and then got slowly moved over to Paul Oakenfold and then eventually Tiesto, Armin, Ferry, etc.

Currently have over 2000 trance mp3's. Bangin.

As for good tunes to roll too, I prefer upbeat stuff, but you gotta mix it up.

The Morrighan - Remember
Tilt - Angry Skies
DJ Tiesto - Lethal Industry
Major League - Wonder Where You Are
Airscape - L'Esperanza
Afterburn - Fratty Boy
Coast 2 Coast feat. Discovery - Home
Headstrong - Escalator
Human Evolution - Human Evolution (Club Mix)
Lexicon 4 - Reach Me
Ocean Lab - Clear Blue Water (Mix One Promo)
Perpetuous Dreamer - The Sound of Goodbye (Armin Van Buuren Remix)
Push - Tranzy State of Mind (Club Mix)
Rank 1 - Airwave
Veracocha - Carte Blanche
Triple Concept - Tonetwister
Vinama - We Came
Yahel & DJ Miss T - Skywalker

However, now I enjoy more to role to livesets or mix CD's. I recommend DJ Tiesto's In Search of Sunrise Mix's, live Oakie Pre 2001, Ferry Corsten @ Trance Energy, etc. I could go on for days. But try this stuff out. You need to get into something more respectable shit then Darude - Sandstorm.

I mean, it's ok to like it. It's ok to like Castles in the Sky. It's ok to like Exploration of Space. But don't talk about it. Those songs are incredibly gimmicky, and well catchy, oppose everything about music that the genre represents. So just enjoy those tunes privately.

hmm, i dont consider Sandstorm cheesy trance. I think its brilliantly produced. Same goes for Suburban Train. But yes, Castles In The Sky is supercheesy. And i been listenign to electronica since 93-94

Welcome to the forums mate
I will not flame you, because when I started to dload tracks from the internet, I had the same taste as you, and that was 3 years ago or so.
Now it changed a "little", but you have to go through a huge amount of tracks and then you will know what I mean.
There will be a period you discover the real value of trance, and you will be so happy then, that you are addicted for life!

Ive personally seen Tiesto get a crowd ALOT more than "going" with this track!!

They both give me a headache. The only tunes I can stand on his listen are DJ Encore (nice vocals, but not trance) and the DJ Tiesto tune.

Anyhows if you want some trance try downloading some of the live sets or singles from this website.

yeah, id have to agree with that

Suburban train is a very good track to roll to. But it was only one of his listed songs.

I'm sorry. Whether you want to believe it or not, Sandstorm is a song that is based on a gimmick. It is brillantly produced, but sadly gimmicky. Look at Darude's follow up to this song, "Feel the Beat." I'd like to call it "Sandstorm Part 2." When you produce trance, you can't keep using the exact same sound. It gets old fast.

Posted by Verona^My on Apr-03-2002 19:03:

Feel the Beat is better than Sandstorm at least. At least he turned down the corny synth sound a notch or two.
