What has she done??!!! please help!

Hi guys,
I hope you can help me with this !

I have been using Cubase Sx for several years, and last week during an argument with my girlfriend, she decided to hit me where it hurts and uninstallled everything on my computer!
she deleted files, uninstalled drivers and basically destroyed my last 3 years of production!

I managed to restore my system and recover a lot of my things, but now when I try to run Cubase i get a 'skin file C:\resource\cubase\skin.xml not found!' error. Cubase sort of starts, but there are no tracks etc.
She also threw out a lot of my disks and other belongings so I cant even re-install it!
Please help!

i suggest, maybe backup your files, reinstall windows and everything else.

I have collected a huge amount of VST's and plug-ins over the years, and if I have to re-install everything Ill have to start collecting all over again. All my plug-ins and instruments are still there - but no use if I cant open Cubase! If I get that working im sure everything will be fine!

i dont use your copy of cubase but maybe someone who uses it could search in their cubase directory and send you that skin? telling you where you should paste it...

Well its probably my own fault cos a few months earlier I said if she ever wanted to really get to me, she should destroy all my work and decks etc. (at least they didnt get harmed! lol.

(she was also going to wee in my aftershave, poo in my pockets and bleach my clothes)

Oh how we have laughed.....!

PS - just to point out, we are back together now and everything is sorted!!

If you really want to have all the files back, maybe you should try a pro data restoration service. It costs (I don't how much), but I think they would likely have more success in recovering your files.

dude, that's one of the nastiest things anyone could do to you, to destroy your life's work (so to speak). But if you cheated on the gal and didn't have the decency to break of the relationship before you acted, then tough breaks shizzlecakes, you deserved it...

Basically copy everything you can and wan't to own to another hard drive, then format the old drive and reinstall windows...

ok ok, I thoroughly deserved everything I got believe me!

Anyway, this thread was supposed to be about getting my Cubase to work, not guidance and relationship counselling!!

I was hoping that someone could help fix my Software problem, not my life!

Saying all that - I have sorted out the problem!
I found some of my CD's, and have succesfully re-installed Cubase, and all my VST's and plug-ins are now all working fine!

And they all lived happily ever after..........
