Tracks that sound infinitely better on a big, loud system...
I'm used to mixing in my bedroom on a set of Logitech computer speakers. They're loud, but nothing like a full size setup. I've gotten a chance to play on a friend's setup the past few days and for the first time I'm realizing how different some tracks sound on a system with real power.
So list a track that once you heard it on a loud system (doesn't have to be a club), it made you go
and look at it in a whole new light.
My pick is Alex Stealthy - Able to Forget. My god what a difference! That track was MADE for a powerful system.
anything by eric prydz
theo parrish - falling up (carl craig remix)
x-press 2 - kill 100 (carl craig mix)
the prodigy - their law
cosmic baby - the space track
veracocha - carte blanche
to name a few...this isnt implying that they sound bad when not on full blast though.
any goa or psy trance track aswell
prydz tracks are 3D on a big sound system
I love hearing Daft Punk - Around the World on club systems, absolutely crazy.
Beating a dead horse here but... any dubstep track.
Flow - Truth & Sunshine (Funk D'Void Remix)
most of richard durand's stuff
uhh...like 90% of all my music
10% being ambient, which is just as good on a regular system
Almost anything IMO, but I like loud music.
The first one that popped into my head was Propellerheads - On Her Majesty's Secret Service.

Anything that has a harsh bassline usually sounds better ona big system hence why tech-trance is so popular. Isnt big on melody or anything but the basslines are always big hence make the tunes dancable at events.
Doesnt make tech-trance any less boring though..........

| Originally posted by isoterra i think that goes without saying. but some tunes improve a helluva lot more than others when the volume is drastically increased.. to use my earlier pick, i'd heard two of durand's tunes (slipping away & the remix of flight 643) at godskitchen in november last year and they absolutely slammed it. when i tracked them down online later that week & played them at home i wasn't even sure they were the same tunes, the effect had completely gone. it's all in the subs |
Guy Gerber - Stoppage Time(Max Graham rmx)
Dave DK Crush The Bits
Pryda - Aftermath
Yves Deruyter - Back To Earth (Rave mix)
its a descent listening at home, but it tears any club apart.

i like this song as is but on a massive system it just blows me away
Armin van Buuren - Control Freak (Sander van Doorn remix)
m and d substance - walking alone
i heard it on nye when i was watching boris md waiting for sasha to play. finally id'd the track like 2 weeks later and when i finally got it it wasnt as good in the club.
and like everyone else said, any eric prydz track (the one i can really remember is proper education)
Dogzilla - Without You (12" Mix)
Tough call, but anything with a heavy, rolling bassline almost always sounds alot better on a bigger system than a smaller one. You just can't get that kind of bass response on a 6" subwoofer.

to truely appreciate them for what they are....
Going to have to say Ame - Rej.
My god, when I heard this in the Guvernment at 9 AM last summer, those synth stabs may have well as been daggers. It just cut right through me, and it was so utterly clear .... really deeply affected me
not to mention the rich, deep, rolling bass. it was definitely a holy moment for everyone there with me. It was actually Benny Benassi who played it and he had already played a set at another venue and looked pretty coked out. There was this really gritty realism in the entire thing that made Rej that much more intense
i can't listen to that track the same since
