Lol @ that pic.

I'd imagine a lot more of them are cracked out than they'd let on. They don't exactly promote a positive image for the scene if they go around publically admitting to doing drugs, so of course they deny it.

I don't care either way, I'm just commenting on why so many of them claim to not do drugs. It's the same reason so many parties will make a point to stress that they don't support drug taking, search bags etc.

the difference is that they are ambassadors for the industry and they are actually doing something they get paid for (in most cases), if i turned up to work stoned thats just as bad as them being stoned on their job imo. its not the industries image that i think is wrong, who cares do wat u want lol ill still love trance it might just keep more stupid kids out. but i think its a dumb fuck thing to do, djing stoned or high or watever.

Don't let the damn preppies dressed in feckin' cargo pants dictate how our scene works!

That's fine, but there's a certain image that has to be maintained. Yes, the scene is full of drugs, we know it, the promoters know it, the DJ's know it, everybody outside the scene knows it. Which is all the more reason for those who are seen as ambassadors for the scene to stress that drugs are not central to it, that the parties are not thrown as 'drug parties', that not everybody is off their face on E/Acid/Ice/G/what have you, that they do not officially condone these activites. If that image isn't maintained, then we can go back to the days when police would run around breaking up parties and arresting people and the media would run stories on 'drug based parties organized by dealers and peddlers corrupting our youth with their hedonism.' They're forced to overcompensate to maintain an image to the general public, and you get bags searched, flyers emphasising 'drug free events' and DJ's all stressing how they'd never, ever, ever do drugs. Thats just the way the world works.

i dont really care about the image, i just dont want to pay to go somewhere where some hack is djing while pinging.

*golf clap*

I saw Baby Anne last year, and she looked like she was in a K-Hole. Unfortunately her shoddy mixing only backed up my claim...
