traffic tickets

So back in January I got a $530 speeding ticket for going 97 in a 70 (yeah yeah, I was late for work). Apparently I had 15 days to either send in the money to pay for the ticket, or send the ticket in so they can assign me a court date. Time went by and I don't know how but i completely forgot about it. It's now March 8, about a month and a half since I got the ticket, and I have yet to send in the ticket for court date or pay the fine. No one has contacted regarding it, so my question to you is wtf should I do? Flame away if you must

they'll catch up with you eventually. just wait. if they don't, youre in luck.

You must travel to the Dagobah System for your answer.

where the fuck do you get a $530 speeding ticket?!?!?!

I've had one for 93 in a 65, and one for 77 in a 45, & neither was over 150.

either way, go sort that out ASAP. For something that big, it's probably gonna go on as a criminal charge if you don't take the right steps.

different states have various ways of calculating it
i've gotten two in my days, one for going 60ish in a 40 in massachusetts, that was like 265
and one for going 81 in a 55, which was about 150 in new york
idk

dude my ticket hasnt even gotten processed yet! im fucking dying wondering what its going to cost me! they wont move the ticket to my home county. im just going to have to postpone court so that i can save the money and drive up there with like $700 so that i can hopefully get it lowered and pay it off while im there.

you should take care of it asap.

and btw this is for my 104 in a 70 ticket. i dunno how much it will really be but i hope not more than 700 but i will find out.

I know, but $530? That's insanity. The cities always charge way more than anywhere else (a ticket for going 1 mph over in Houston is more than my 28 over was in southern illinois).

WOWWW!! Kyle, that's tough. I'd send in the money ASAP. They will get to you eventually and the longer you wait to pay it, the more shit you may get in to.

YA! WTF is up with the cost so high? I was doing 110 in a 75 and my ticket was 365$. I wasn't late for anything, I'm just a bad ass.

Shit, I'd do what I could to find out what I needed to do to pay it. For something like that, you're probably screwed if you don't pay the money. Specially if they end up giving you a court date and you somehow missed the letter for that. I don't think I'd like jail, and you probably wouldn't either

rofl the threat of jail is an empty promise. they wont send you to jail. they just slap a fine on. its called FTA (Failure To Appear). here in cali its $250 per FTA.

well, it's also the city. If I'd gotten that same ticket in Houston instead of an hour north of it, it'd have been 3 or 4 hundred something. A ticket for going 1 over within the city limits there is 160 .

the main thing is that you need to try to get that off your record, 'cuz your insurance will rail you in the ass for it. You'll probably have to go to court, and if your record's clean, they'll give you a probationary period or something, and make you go to driving school, but it's more than worth it for the cash you'll save in insurance.

Call the court asap. I've made so many stupid mistakes with tickets. I had a fix-it ticket regarding a cracked windshield. All I had to do was fix the window and get it signed off and pay a $10 fee. Well I sold the car before the due date and decided that it wasn't my problem anymore

A few weeks ago I get a letter in the mail saying that I now owe the court $780 dollars Oh and my license is probably suspended.

"Negligent Driving"
"2nd Degree - 814 ft."

wutever the fuck that means

Posted by Frenchie on Mar-09-2007 02:50:

Does that mean that from time they clocked you to the time you were pulled over in distance? I don't know. I get them and pay them, don't pay too much detail besides the cost.

Posted by medinaM5 on Mar-09-2007 02:53:

do they usually call you or send something in mail if you're ditching out on a ticket for this long?

no. Not 'til you get a ton of them. But chances are, your insurance company either already knows or is soon to find out.
