i dropped a dresser on my toe 2 days ago and my nail turned blue and black and its going to fall off. anyone lose a nail before?

mines like slowly falling off. its weird. one side is attached the other side isnt

When you try to pull it, yeah. Hurts like hell. Once it's off the pain is gone. Sometimes touching it against the bruise and blood makes it hurt a bit.

And that doesn't look like it's going to fall off. If it was going to fall off it would look like a bruise under the nail. Unless the WHOLE nail is discolored and I just can't tell from the picture.

depends on the skin type. i lost a fingernail, and didn't even have a bruise on it from when it got slammed by a car door.

two things. i got big long flat soccer feet. they've been twisted and slammmed in every way. and yea u cant tell from the pic but my toe is bruised along the nail. and the nail itself is purple

no it was inside my house. my father and i were moving it for some stupid reason. and my father is in his 60's so he dropped his end and the thing tipped over and I jumped back to get out of the way and it missed me cept it landed on the end of my big toe. i ran around swearing and then just lied down in quietness for abt an hour refusing help or talking to ppl. fuckin throbbing didnt go away for 2 days

When I was in... first grade I think I was over at a friends house and we were building little rivers and dams (because thats fun!) in his back yard and I wasn't wearing any shoes and I slammed a big shovel (like one of those giant grown up size ones) down on nail of my right big toe.

GOD DAMN THAT HURT.

It filled up with blood, and I took like half a pain killer that my friends dad gave me (it was like some strong stuff, don't remember) and I was all high off my ass for like a whole day (it didn't let me sleep, I just sat in bed with this horrible numb dull pain in my foot).

So the doctor said that its best to drain the blood, it will help it fall off and heal faster, so I was like "OK"

But then I realized that they were gunna use a flame to drill through my toe nail so I freaked out and they had to strap me down and do it caz I was freaking out so bad.

Anyways it fell off and healed...

got stepped on my a cleat one time, hit right in the soft spot at the top of the nail and after a couple days it was like half detached and only gonna fall off more as the days went by, so i pulled it off
hurts way less if you're fully expecting it

that said, the nail grew all fucked up for a year or two and i got ingrown toenails a couple times
went to a podiatrist twice to fix it and he didn't really do shit, so i just trimmed it regularly to make sure it wasn't growing sideways and now its fine

moral of the story/cor version: i hate doctors, they never do anything right for me, and also i pulled a nail off my toe

LOL and once in high school same thing happed to this crazy fucking bass player in my music class (i mean like i walk into the room and he picks up the bass (upright bass mind you, not electric) with the stand pointing at me and just SPRINTS straight at me) but yeah, happened to him so he pulled it off one day and used it as a pick for a while

lol it should also be noted that i have a very high pain tolerance, so it might not be for everyone
if i can see it happening, and it happens slowly, it essentially doesn't hurt
i can pinch my arm to the point where it bleeds with ease
