I came across this fresh Preach promo mix on Livesets.com earlier... just about to download it, feels like I haven't seen him in ages.
If I was still in Montreal I would have gone to Bal en Blanc this weekend.

YES (before I've even listen to this set). Otherones I dropped in the BeB thread (Dish, SVD).. meh!

edit: don't get me wrong, I don't mind some of the trance, but it isn't the style I was looking for from him. I guess times/styles change and I need to deal.

I used to love this man, spend countless fridays at aria going mad to his beats...its already been a few months of this style.Sell out?I don't know. What I do know is that because of this change the name Preach no longer holds interest to me.It's been that way since he did that awful remix of that song they used to play on mix 96 all last summer.I guess he is desperate to be more mainstream, when all i see is him losing his old fans. This tracklist is horrible

mojado -el matador is a 2 year old track that is so fucking shitty.
Marco V gave a copy to enjoy once because he never used it and thought it so bad he couldn't play it.

I was hoping that him and SVD would add some edge to that room but it looks like they're gonna fluff it up like the rest

I used to enjoy some of the older trance too. The productions today though are 95% garbage in that genre imo.He was also playing around with alot of electro last year. It's not a good thin imo when the people have no clue what the dj is about anymore. Jenn it really doesn't feel good to say it (you know i was a huge fan) but this mix is pure poop.If its a preview of things to come, the last time i see preach was last year.

@ spin: this years lineup of BeB is the weakest of all time,yet the sales of tickets mean the everyday music fans like us will never be served quality up to our standards again at a massive here.The tourist dollar is more important.

SvD had more edge than Preach did when I saw him in Ottawa.

I guess I got lucky back in Oct/Nov there. He did venture into tech house that night too besides the techno, which was also a bonus, imo.

I wonder what thread starter Kate Manus has to say about this trancey set?

I actually not once ever said that about BeB.
I was just simply stating my opinion on how a style has changed.

Preach was the ONLY act I paid 140$ to see last year (I didn't go for anyone else) and he was awesome. He is also the only DJ I have flown half way across the world randomly to see, or driven 6 hours after work to see. I just don't prefer the new style that is all. I realize there is a reason they keep having him back; Philippe is a talented DJ, there is no doubt about that. He isn't my fave for no reason at all... don't forget that


As for Sander, he isn't new to the world of EDM. People are just starting to recognize him more. He has many alias's (Sam Sharp, Sandler, Purple Haze) that people probably didn't have the slightest clue it was him then, hence the new popularity now.

I wasn't posting in this thread to diss anyone or anything Markess. It was just my opinion based on my taste and what sound I was used to hearing. It is ok, you can put your guard down now
