reason why trance music is not good.
In the year 2000, 7 years ago, when I signed up here. there were 3 dj's that kicked ass. They were in everybody's top 5, and 90% of everybody's top 3.
Those Dj's were AVB,PVD and Tiesto.
It is the year 2007, and nothing has changed. How can 3 people dominate a music genre for 7, probably 10 years.

im pretty sure oakenfold was higher on ppls lists than avb was back then
ferry was higher up then avb was
2000 was the year of ferry corsten and tiesto i think.. armin was making crazy music as well
yeah, you're probably right. And so was sasha, and maybe even sven vath or whatever his name is. But i'm just saying that in 10 years wouldn't you want some change. Either the top 5 guys keep getting better, which is doubtful, or there is no competition. Thus, trance music is not good.

He has a point. It's nearly ridiculous the way superstar DJs kept up their status by doing absolutely nothing remarkable apart from releasing average albums, touring everywhere and having great marketing. In this period of time, how many new people appeared in the scene and managed to build a big reputation?
Don't get me wrong, music doesn't age. The good things made 15 years ago are still good. What I find strange is how every single year the results of that silly dj mag poll is pretty much the same. When it's all supposedly about live performance skills. There is no renovation, or well, there are tons of new djs everywhere, but the new DJs really struggle to overcome in popularity those who are aging quick and losing their motivation, freshness and uniqueness.
This would be worrying, but I have a theory. In 10, 20 years all superstar DJs will retire and there'll be nobody to fill in their place. Therefore.. there'll be no more superstar DJs. And it'll be all about the music again. 
By the same line of thought, I believe we can irradiate war and hunger all over the world too!
