Pictures | Reviews | Notes::: Armin @ LL - 4/14/07

I just decided to kinda separate the present from the past. Hopefully it works out but I started a new thread so that Steve and others with pics can post here.

Pictures taken with my Samsung SGH-E900 Cellular.

My review of last night.

Dallas Road Trip

Driving through Dallas with Lizandro and Tiffany, jamming out to just about anything with a sprinkle of trance on it.

Road Trip & Driving To Lizard Lounge

We arrive at Lizard Lounge and meet up with Mike (aka BiggieStuFF...or B.I.G. lol) I gotta say that throwing it at Lizard Lounge was probably the worse idea ever. The club looks pretty cool inside and the set up couldn't be much better, but when a dj's booking agent has screwed up his/her tour and needs a last minute booking, it is something that needs to be more closely looked at in my point of view. Lizard Lounge was horrible for a last minute booking. Armin is in high demand right now and that's something that needed to be discussed before booking him. Without a doubt, LL was overfilled. Steve and I are standing at the bar waiting on 3 jack n' cokes, and it pretty much made us laugh to see the amount of people that were lined up and cutting in front of us and others to get drinks. And then the suicidal part of that was trying to get back into the main dance floor. LL was hot as hell and if it weren't because my friends were there I would have seriously ditched the show and gone elsewhere.

Overall Armin rocked out. The beautiful Stephanie and I were upstairs at the VIP hanging out over the crowd watching Dj Dan spin. Dj Dan wasn;t that bad, but just the idea of having 3 house dj's open up for a trance dj just kinda turned things off for me. Steph had mentioned that Armin would be passing by behind us to get to the dj booth. As soon as she said that, my head turned that direction and I never once looked away but only to chat with Steph and her bf, who by the way is one cool guy. I see Armin walk out, followed by about 10 bouncers. My heart fucking dropped. I told Steph that he'd been passing through and just as I said that the poor girl almost teared up.

I have 2 vinyls in my hands (one is Lizandro's and one mine (burned with desire) ready to be autographed. I tell Steph I'm leaving them to go down to the crowd, which was another nightmare getting through that crowd, but I didn't regret. Armin opened the show just as he did in AHOY - ROTTERDAM. The crowd is going wild, then that sound of heart beating is thrown down in our faces. Armin fucking lays that shit down and my adrenaline is uncontrollably flowing, my blood begins to boil. The choir follows through in Armin's intro. I get chills down my spine. I look to my side and I realize I'm not the only one with tears in their eyes. Armin increases the high tones and drops the low tones. The flanger is engaged to the point where my eardrums just want to burst. He then slams down the bass on that track, and I'm in what the man calls "A State of Trance". This is real.

The night was young and Armin had some dirty ass tracks in there. Probably my "Tune of the Night" is by far Michael Dow's "Ascend". I heard that track coming in through those speakers and I lost it. Armin laid it down perfectly and that transition especially went through like a hot knife in butter. I held my vinyls up and after some serious pushing and shoving, finally got them autographed.

AFTER-PARTY @ CLUB JONAS

I gotta lay it down like this. I have to say that these guys are some of the most loyal, not to mention bad ass people I've ever been with. Steve has one hell of a character and can make anyone laugh. Matt, Cory and Devon (and others), you guys are some of the coolest people I've been around. We gotta admit though that at fucking 7am and drinking Jack daniels, we gotta be some of the most drunk ass people anywhere lol. "Kitchen Sessions" is the name given to the most miraculous mix this board will ever witness. Lizandro started with some bad ass progressive, and as I consider him this kid is probably the most influential person I've come across with in my entire history of listening to trance music. Matt sits in with the Apple and fires up Serato.

Benjamin D. Hoooooly fucking shit man. Cory I gotta say bro you're fucking talented. Damn it if no one has ever listened to this guy spin you guys are in for some SERIOUS shit here. From song choice to transitions Cory just blows me away. I could have sworn I was back at Lizard Lounge listening to Armin when i heard Cory throw it down. He throws in the Whippenberg mix of Needs To Feel and that's when I knew this guy and I have almost the exact same taste in trance music. What a mix this kid threw down. Pure fucking talent!

Steve (the main headliner) throws it down. Another talented Dj right here if you havent noticed. That one Andrew Bennett Remix just made the night a one of a kind for me. The most beautiful thing guys, the collection of alcohol we had on Steve's counter. That right there my friends, is the most beautiful thing ever. Your TXTA's right beside you and alcohol floating around left and right and the least thing you think about is the time of day and whether you're tired or not. That's when you know you are rolling in the best of circles.

This is one weekend I will never forget. Steve, Lizard, Matt, Cory and Devin, you guys know this isn't the last time we're doing this. "Kitchen Sessions 2" is something I smell around the corner, if ya feel that.

Never saw you to invite you. since you could only move 20 feet an hour in there it was extremly hard to get to everyone lol.

next time for sure.

Posted by sharper on Apr-16-2007 16:20:

Oh Okay....can this chick add her story in?

Then I'll go get the pics and video, I promise.

I'm hanging with the boys upstairs...Armin passes right behind us and all of us almost peed in our pants....or maybe that was me?
I was tearing up, finally....finally get to see him in person. I've waited so long to thank him for his contribution to trance music and how he has enhanced and empowered peoples lives all over the world. I had to tell them this so I could rest well.

He's playing, and I'm singing my heart out. I wanted so badly for him to hear me from the railing up above him. It was emotional, and some songs I would get choked up on from the emotions and the atmosphere that everyone was feeling around me. I never felt so much love in the air in my life!

I think Armin was only into the second song when one of the speakers blew up and there was a fire. It was awesome, everyone was cheering that Armin was tearing shit up. They eventually replaced the speaker, but it sure was fun to see.

I was so scared to go down to the floor. Due to the fact that I have fallen on the floor, was trampled and stomped on last year. It's been a big fear of mine for really packed crowds ever since. But if it was the only way I could, I would have to try and meet him. I had some guys help me push our way through the crowd. We got up to the front finally, where there was this girl that would not move if her life depended on it.

I told her that Armin knew of me and he wanted to see my Angel tattoo when he came to Dallas. I just needed to show it to him, say hi, and then I'll leave and go back upstairs...and she could have her spot back. You could tell she didn't know anything about Armin or who he was..she was just there taking up my space and breathing all the Armin fans' air. Another girl that I met up at the front of the stage was a huge Armin fan too. And I'm ashamed of this now, but that night, we were practically torturing the bitch that was in front of us. And the other girl started spitting in her hair. LOL....well maybe I feel ashamed for laughing about it, but felt she deserved it. She would yell back at us, "I AM NOT MOVING!" and the other girl would call her a bitch and she would say "I DON't CARE!"

And I'm not usually a mean person, but damn, wanted to slap her. I had a rose with me and I was able to reach it up to the top of the railing. And Armin grabbed it and proped it up for the whole club to see. He played the rest of the night with the rose there. I was miserable there on the floor trying to get his attention. Yal know that spikey headed guy that was hanging with Armin all night? Well I tried to get his attention and I showed him my tat. He just shook his head at me and said No. And the bouncer kept trying to push me back down. Stop man-handling me....I'm a chick, dude! lol

So then Armin looked down for a second and I could tell he recognized me and thought I looked familiar from the pics. (Dave Dresden sent Armin my myspace link a while ago) And then the music died down at the perfect time as he looked at me and I yelled, "I'm YOUR TATTOO GIRL!"

His face lit up and he said, "REALLY!!!???" and he motioned for me to come up immediately. Of course, the bouncer still wouldn't let me. So Armin had to tell spikey headed dude to come down and get me. In which I stuck my toungue out at Mr. Spike and told him "I told you so." LOL

I gave him a moment to change songs and I got to watch him work from upclose. Damn magic hands! Once he was situated, he came by and said Hi and wanted to see the tat. It was on my back and I handed him a sharpie to sign it. He told me he was flattered and it was beautiful. He hugged me and I immediately kissed his cheek and his neck. I couldn't help it! This chicka has needs! lol

Was hoping I'd be allowed in the elite crowd standing on the side...but of course Mr. Spike-Ass motioned for me to step by down. I gave him a nasty face to show my disapproval of him. He seemed to be Armin's personal cheerleader or something.

When I got down, a million people wanted to touch my autograph, and I was so worried it would smudge before I could get a pic of it. Some professional photographers kept coming over to take pics of it, so hopefully I'll have a good pic of it when they come out.

The crowd on the floor was terrible, so I went back upstairs to my spot on the railing. Armin recognized me up there, and would watch me sing along, and he kept pointing at me and smiling. It was an absolutely amazing night.

And at 4am, I loved when the announcer said, "The doors close at 4, but FUCK THAT SHIT!!!" and Armin played for another 45 minutes or maybe an hour after that. Oh and Johnny Funk finished it all up because no one was ready to leave.

And so many new friends I've gained! Thanks everyone for your kind words and sweetness! I loved meeting you all! I just want to give you guys a big hug again! Actually....brings up another story....

While I was down on the bottom floor, my cell had been knocked out, and became in a million pieces somewhere on the LL floor. So guess what? I had to get a new phone yesterday.

I've lost all my good people's phone numbers!!!!
So please text me, email me, PM me, whatever you wish, and I'm hoping to get your phone numbers back into my new phone!

..../Steph

Man oh man oh man! I had so much fun this weekend that I am 'working from home' today. What a weekend. First I played friday night for the Andy Moor show. Went very well. I even have my first groupie. Some chick kept asking me what every track was I played. I finally had to just give her my website and told her to email me. Proceeded to get muy drunk that night.

Saturday consisted of laying on the couch until the lunchmeat crew came in town from Houston. So I started getting calls about 9:30. Took a cab and finally showed up about 12:30. DJ Dan was decent. Typical, but decent.

Then Armin gets there and the whole place goes nuts. He really did put on a good show. I would have stayed for all of it if it wasn't so damn crowded. Full Access dropped the ball on that part.

There was about a two to three hour window where everything kinda started to run together. The Kitchen Session (conceptualize at CLub Jonas by resident superstar DJ Jonas) was much of a success in it's debut. I have been getting calls and emails from fans and DJ's wanting to know more or how they can be a part of what we are now dubbed, EKG (Electronic Kitchen Group). <<
Matt Cory, Lizandro, Carlos, Deven-Thanks for coming over. Sorry not everyone got on the decks. We will do this again soon and start designating time to everyone that wants to play.
