Craziest thing you've done to see a DJ?

What's the craziest thing you've done to go to a party to see a DJ?

I was just talking to someone who we'll remain nameless and this person was thinking about deferring an exam to attend a party haha...which got me thinking.

I've only called in sick from work so I could party...

dupe of a dupe.

As I remember, the last thread like this was won by Jenners and her Preach-whoring. Lisa-Loo and Irish were close contenders tho.

Went to Europe for 2 months. Planned 85% of my vacation based around parties/festivals.

I was ready to quit my job if they didn't give me time off for WEMF.. same applies for this year.

Never really been, always away when it has happened, or when I did come back things never worked out. How does it compare to other festivals?

Went to Black and Blue
Partied there till about noon
Continued the party with my partner until about 10pm
rushed to catch an 11pm train
slept on the over-night train
Rushed to exam
wrote exam
taxi'd home and crashed

got an 80%

You can't compare it to anything. It's one of a kind.

missed an exam, lied to the prof saying I was very sick, he believed me enough not to even ask for a sick note

deferring an exam is pretty sane idea IMO, at least the person will study for it later, no biggie!

I can compare it to other festivals. Just like you can compare the Zurich street parade in Switzerland to the LP in Berlin. Both are street parades...

I couldn't really tell you.. that was the first WEMF I attended and the closest thing to a festival I had been to before that was Ozzfest 2001. I just knew that I had to go to WEMF and didn't really care if it meant losing a job I already didn't like.

Posted by geroin on Apr-17-2007 03:41:

hahah i just remembered something, back when i worked in a restaurant an owner asked me if i could work sunday mornings and i refused, when she asked me why i replied with "I go to guvernment on saturday nights".

Alright cool. Just wanted to know if it's worth all the craziness to go this year. I guess I have to find someone who's been to other festivals to get a feel for it. Thanks man.

Taken from the "What DJ/Producer are you Obsessed with" thread. Bolding the 2 biggest I would say.

Alright...now that I have some time...I can talk about some of the crazy things I've done.

1. I'd say one of the craziest would be thanks to Del. He got me those passes to teh VIP Private Party in NYC last June (20th - 2 days before my birthday). I woke up at 6am in the morning on the 20th, rented a car, drove to Hamilton, picked up Laura, drove to NYC, ate dinner quickly, went to the party - hung out with Ferry Corsten & kissed him on the cheek

Then I slept for maybe 5 hours, drove back to Hamilton (dropped Laura off), drove back in an INSANELY CRAZY NUTSO thunderstorm that I'm TERRIBLY afraid of and started bawling my eyes out. I pulled over and called Cale b/c not only was I terrified but I was worried I was going to run out of gas.

Then when I couldn't see anything - apparently an accident had just occurred on the 401 and there were flares directing traffic. I was so confused and upset and couldn't see, so I followed the car in front of me on to an apparently closed highway. I got yelled at by a cop as I was bawling and didn't know what was going on - who gave me a $250 ticket.

I waited there for an hour, continue to drive in the crazy storm, got home, slept for a couple hours and went to work at 8:30am - 7pm.

2. In March, Ferry was spinning his final residency at Crobar in NYC. So I planned a huge trip to see him (and PVD the next day), with a bunch of the TOTAs. The NYTAs found out about my obsession and that I had never met Ferry, and got me a VIP bracelet. So I spent much of the night up on stage with Ferry, the rest of it barely able to move b/c of my excitement - Spitty, Laura, Nada, Cale etc. can vouch for that. I made a shirt for him that night. It said: Ferry Rock my Body.

3. Labour of Love this year...dancing front row centre...didn't let anyone take my spot, didn't move for however many hours he spun (6 I think). The only time I moved was when I went up on stage to talk to him and dance for awhile.

4. He came to Detroit in October too I think. Talked my way upstairs to VIP before he started and talked to him for awhile. Then I stood right next to and in front of the decks the entire night. Only moving for the professional photographers.

5. I dunno if this counts yet...but going to Holland this summer to see Ferry in his hometown. And then to Ibiza to see him in paradise! Hopefully he'll be at Sensation and Dance Valley. And he always spins a beach party in his hometowm. Maybe I'll get to see his house.... hahaha j/k I may be obsessed but I'm not going to stalk him!

6. Again, dunno is this counts yet...but he's coming to my hometown in Windsor. So I bet you can all guess that I'm going to freak when he comes. I'm working on getting VIP for that as well, and making him something for his arrival - possible arranging some sort of TOTA dinner.

Anyway...Jenn and I have spoken about our obsessions with our DJ fans. Although Ferry does know who I am, I'd probably say Jenn knows Preach a lot more personally - don't know for sure though. We were talking however, and she said that it'd a lot easier for her to get connected with Preach b/c he's not as big a name as Ferry...yet!

Update on Europe:
-found out he's spinning at Amnesia with PvD the day Cale and I were scheduled to leave...but after hundreds of dollars in switching flights etc. around, I will be there!

-and he will be at Dance Valley

-I'm keeping my fingers crossed for his beach party in Rotterdam.

the Lisa roadtrip to NYC to see Ferry I'd have to say.

I spent more time in a car than in New York City.

Hahaha for me it was something like 20 or so hours in a car 12 hours in NYC?

Nice! @ seeing him and PvD @ Amnesia. I caught Marco V opening for PvD 2 years ago there. I loved it, you'll have a blast.

Also:

The Nyc trip for PvD @ Roxy in 05 was just nuts...car travel for extended periods like that in that Neon were death, but it was all worth it. Couldn't ask for better company and PvD for 6 hours! w00t!

I think the craziest thing I did was to see: svd, markus schulz, armin, A&B, Preach, Funabushi, Talla 2XLC, vicor dinaire, jason jollins and Ferry corsten all within a 2 week span before my masters thesis presentation (AND finals for that matter!).

oh wait, thats this week.

no sleep

Having gone last year.. I can tell you for sure that it's definitely worth whatever has to be done in order to attend!
