A Tail of Two Lizards
He's been there for several months. I know he overwintered in my greenhouse. Today I realized he has a hot wife. Bright blue tail. If I was a bird I would definitely try to eat her. I sat and watched them for an hour. They are very interesting creatures. I don't mind them much. They are colorful and eat loathsome insects. They will probably lay eggs soon. I wouldn't mind starting a lizard ranch.
I wanted to ID the species of this lizard. Google brought up UGA's reptile website. After looking around, I am confident they're in the genus Eumeces. As for which species, my best guess would be Eumeces laticpes.

This is a male. Very distinctive burnt orange head.

This is a female.

cools. Don't think I've actually seen lizard eggs before, for some reason.
I used to have a chameleon. He died, but was fairly entertaining for a while.

im so scared of lizards
that first pic gave me the heeby-jeebies
My grandmother was really scared of them as a little kid. My uncle got a small lizard and he snuck up behind her and put it down her dress. She was so scared that she couldn't move so she just stood there and screamed.
I think my uncle got a good beating for it.
yea when i was 13 my next door neighbour in malta bought over a cameleon he found in a fruit tree and placed it on my shoulder....
i swear my heart stopped beating i went so white and nearly vomitted, my family all thought it was hilarious

| Originally posted by Lilith He's a cool looking lizard, really unusual colouring on him! Congrats on becoming a godfather to a dozen baby lizards ![]() I used to have a couple of these at my place ages ago ![]() (Not taken by me) Blue Tongue lizards, they'd eat all the snails, slugs and bugs around the place, I think cats got them though as I've not seen them for years |
Love their awesome tongues though.Re: Re: Re: A Tail of Two Lizards
Yeah, they do look like Joe Blake which isn't good for their survival around nervous girls with a rake, they also really hiss loudly... Kitty wouldn't bother them because he's more or less to the point where his geriatric ass can barely take on a mouse. Those water dragons get huge too! About 3ft long and all spines and claws.
