Those WTF!? tracks..

I was browsing through my old project files and I found this little half-finished uh, gem.
[[ LINK REMOVED ]]

It's a track I made about one year ago, I had almost forgotten about it.
Sometimes you just go "what the fuck was I thinking" when you listen to your own older productions.
So, post your own WTF!? tracks for everyone to laugh at.

Re: Those WTF!? tracks..

?

i was expecting farting bass and bleepy synths.

the track isn't bad at all for a beginner, even for an intermediate. If this rings "WTF!" to you, i wonder how much better than this can your current work possibly be?

you probably don't even produce trance anymore, hence this sounds like cheese?

have a listen at this..

With some polishing maybe even not...you could get that signed in my opinion...I hate to say it but I have heard a lot worse than that played in sets....I'm not into the supersawish trance stuff but I'm sure that will do fine...give her a go.

I Wish I still had my Techno Ejay songs.

Posted by yawarm on May-04-2007 02:37:

I likie it man, its definately not wtf.. you're much much more talented than you give yourself credit, either that or youve completely changed styles ! but with a bit of polishing i think this sounds like it could work. Keep it up man, you're giving us newbies hope ..

That's how I feel. The standards I set for myself are so high that unless I make a track of Cafe Del Mar or Out Of The Blue's caliber I'm not satisfied. I only like it if I would buy it and after listening to nigh on 15 years of four-to-the-floorers, mediocre just doesn't cut it.

It has to have a huge melody, a perfect kick/bass combo, wicked transitions/fx and above all else a unique atmosphere.

And that's all to be crammed in a half hour slot after sitting at the computer all day writing reports about QAM V32 4bit Modems, IPv6 and other shit. I loved computers two years ago!

I'm seriously considering working in a bar, shop or as a labourer when I get my degree. I'm fucking sick of three letter acronyms. There was one day I put CDs in a box... then I decided I wanted to put them somewhere else and found myself looking for a back button. That's not good.

Posted by mysticalninja on May-04-2007 07:20:

I've looked for the undo button IRL as well. That's when you know it's time to take alittle break.

I only take breaks like 2 days maybe 3 at a time, not usually, but when I do it's so fkn fun coming back and everything sounds good again and I want to make stuffs.

Something i've noticed is I try to make my tracks sound like they do in my fav DJ's mixes, and my fav mixes are live sets from around 98-03 before CD-DJ's and they have this fat analog clipping dirty mixer sound, I try to produce my songs like this and it's really fkn hard, and when I listen to some of my fav song as singles, they never sound as good as they did in the mix, took me awhile to figure out the sound im looking for is analog clipping...

heres an example..

http://www.tranceaddict.com/cgi-bin/songout.pl.cgi?0304-cor_fijneman-danceroom-021503

the second track in this set sounds SOOOOOOO much cooler and trippier and just more awsomer than it does on tiestos nyana cd. the single of this song sounds like crap to my ears, but in this mix its fkn win.

I dont think eldritch means WTF in a negative way at all...just that hes on a different wave length these days.

Yeah I like it too actually, I'm just stressed with Uni and having a bit of a moan!

Posted by Eldritch on May-04-2007 17:12:

Heh, I guess it just sounds "WTF" to me because it's my own track. It's definately one of the more different tracks I've made. With "WTF" I didn't necessarily mean bad but more like different, and odd.

Hey Subtle, I really dig that track. It's crazy.

Posted by DJ_Eternal on May-04-2007 18:26:

Superb tunage Eldritch. There are a few off notes in the high pitched synth in the build up but that's really nit-picking. I agree with others that this track is signable by giving it a good polishing up. Perhaps that's not your intention though.

I'll post some of my WTF work later, when i get home.

Posted by Chris Crossland on May-05-2007 23:20:

LMAO I have so many of these! I listen to them and seriously wonder what i was thinking when i was making them. I'll post them in a bit.

Posted by Chris Crossland on May-05-2007 23:27:

Lol, I dont even remember making this. It's only like a 30 sec clip cause once you hear it there is no reason to finish it haha.

This was definitely one of those tracks... A mix of breakbeat and (progressive) trance.

Posted by Eldritch on May-08-2007 14:35:

Cool tracks guys. Prog and breakbeat sounds like an interesting combo. I should do something like it sometime.

I'm not quite sure what happened here. The intro is quite nice but I guess I just ran out of ideas after that...

Posted by Limit on May-08-2007 16:13:
