ARTIST:
He's been around since the beginning of the nineties under guises as varied as Rob Acid, Robert Babicz, Sontec and Atlon Inc amongst many others and has released five albums and countless maxi singles on labels like Systematic, Punkt, Audiomatique, Force Inc, Mille Plateaux, Bpitch Control, Treibstoff and Out Of Orbit. 2005 to 2007 have been massive years for Robert, with some of the best minimal tech and electro tech releases anywhere in the world all wearing the Babicz stamp - tracks such as Battlestar, Look, Mister Head, Weekend, Markateck, The Cloud Painter, and his recent Sin EP have stunned producers, DJs and fans alike with their infectious rhythms, dark synths, deep and twisted beats and near audiophile production quality.

DJs from all walks of life and genres are spinning his productions and even the best in the field start to gush the minute his name is dropped. With his new album, 'A Cheerful Temper' about to hit on hot-as-f*ck label of the moment Systematic on 23rd May (home to Booka Shade, Stephan Bodzin, Marc Romboy and John Dahlback), he is about to be recognised as one of the most ingenious producers of our time. With a prolific amount of bookings all across Europe for years now that shows no sign of stopping, including Sonar and the Detroit Electronic Music Festival; quite simply... he is one of our favourite artists and one of the best live acts on the world circuit.

9.) Tarjas dream
10.) Flower of life

"A Cheerful Temper", the name of Robert Babiczs debut album for Systematic Recordings is arguably the best way to describe the Cologne based Pole. Answering the question why he is choosing this specific name, Babicz explains that he feels caught between two worlds: The real world of everyday life and a surreal dream world comparable to the backdrop of a fairy tale.

Those who are following Roberts career over the years, know that his sound and the standard of his productions reach almost audiophile standards. One reason for his famous sound stems in part from his collection of old analogue equipment (even from the 60s and 70s) which Robert uses alongside his computer. Besides drum machines like the famous Roland TR808 and TR909, Robert owns a variety of unique machines like special effects and EQs the size of living rooms, some taken from German TV stations to edit their movies and crime shows. He even uses equalizers used by the secret service and compressors used by East German radio stations.

It is no wonder then that the sound quality of the album is both graceful and crystal clear. Tracks like Sin and Losing Memories surprise with their club compatible deepness while at the same time moving between the genres of electronica, minimal techno and classic house. A Cheerful Temper is indeed a very special and genre breaking album full of beautiful electronic club music.
