the most unique trance tune you've heard?
i was just listening to Omicron's Symbolis EP [Instinct, 1993] the other day after sitting on it for some time, and was blown away by the uniquness of the title track. it starts of with a little cheap casio-like keyboard synth melody, takes off and breaks down and ends builds up with synths (not kick drums) and ends with ambient for about the last 3 minutes. it's a strange little track that probably could only have been produced in the early and yet still innovative begining of trance. i've never heard anything like it.
anyone have a similar trance tune in mind that is really unique?
nothing specific, but everything by Shpongle seems weird and awesome at the same time
Balil - Rosery Pilots, Parasight
they doesn't sound like typical Frankfurt or Berlin trance tracks of that era and that makes them unique and wonderful at the same time. Perfect mixture of early acid trance, english intelligent techno and ambient music
I like Peplab - Welcome to the Bear (Ferry Corsten Remix)
Antidote - Eclipse (Kamasutra Mix)
Jose Zamora & Damian DP- Transatlantic (Andy Moor rmx)

I'm sure I could think of a better one if I sat down for a while, but one that springs to mind is "On The Run" by Tillman Uhrmacher. The vocals alone are unique enough, but the whole track is pretty different from any other trance track I've heard in almost every respect. Even more strange is that it was a huge hit.
Not really trance, but Paris & Healey - Blue
Sensorica - Turning Back
Nu Nrg - Opportunity
I'd say these tracks are unique but I don't know if they're similar to the song you mentioned.
Chicane - Saltwater

hm, thought some more and came up with
Chable & Bonici - Ride
Rico Soarez - TV Dinner
Royksopp - Eple
Henrik Schwarz, Dixon & Ame - Where We At
Some of the 1200 mics songs (mayans, incas and aztecs is pretty standard though)... Astral projection isn't really like anything else either. Oh and for those uptight people it's Psytrance

'nico parisi + eric hubo - metro'
and
'taiko - the silence'. 'the silence' was around in the trance era but could be labeled as techno.
