Smiley DJ Does anyone download TOTA sets?

Just a question. Do many people here actually venture into the TOTA DJ MIX - MASTERLIST thread?

Not only do I post my sets in there, but we have some VERY talented dj's in here that really know how to put a mix together!! Especially Aaron Joseph, Yohan, Richard Raiban & Chris Allen. Atleast those ones stick out the most to me, I'm sure there's other fabulous ones too, and I don't get a chance to listen to Everybody's mixes, but I don't see anybody really posting reviews or thoughts or anything about our local tota dj's.

Anyway, I just wanted to give shout outs to those guys in particular. Great sets guys! And keep em coming!

I've picked up numerous sets from there, good stuff

u guys know ur stuff, keep em coming...that means u too kris !!

TOTA DJ masterlist thread along with some sets from DJ Promo forum gets a lot of listen from me, even more than stuff from the download thread or the househead thread.

Yup! I sure do listen to them. Lots of really good mixes! Keep them coming

+1. I go once or twice a week and pick up new sets.

I do also! I have gotten a lot of great mixes from there!

Posted by Porky on May-22-2007 17:25:

sorry morty

i don't

i have very limited time, that i don't even have time to listen to dj sets from top producers

just listen to prepackaged albums/sets.. like GU and balance.. over and over

alot of filler stuff on the weekly sets (asot) that i can't waste my time with

Posted by matty on May-22-2007 17:36:

Raiban's sets are on permanent rotation!

Posted by Cosmic Fur on May-22-2007 17:46:

I don't. Two reasons:

1) Sets there aren't a style of EDM I enjoy.

2) I have sooo many other sets to listen I simply don't have time for TOTA sets.

thats my main reason. i have over 150 sets that i still have to listen to on my computer. and i usually listen to them 2 or 3 times before they go in the vault.

I do from time to time

Maybe my mortyman, you should create a special ToTa download thread, for the locals djs??? that would be dope....a friend of mine told me to listen to yours, and your fuckin sick!!

i think it was the 420 session or something like that

All DJ mix threads are required to be posted in the Amateur DJs Promotion section of tranceaddict.com. A link to that thread along with the DJ name and date of posting will be posted in this Masterlist thread.

see, now if peepz followed that rule then I wouldn't miss some of the sets

Listened to Raiban's stuff before and it's rockin'.

i dont really listen to/download sets overall so its hard for me to actually download and listen to a TA's set unless they request me to...

but its ok..i know no one has downloaded my set that i put up a week or so ago unless requested on msn....

Tracklist: meh

You don't know the tracks or too lazy to write them up?

As I have limited bandwidth I like to know what I'm downloading.

before u go to check out a dj at a club, do u ask him for a tracklist just so you may not spend money and then regret it?

91 mb doesnt hog ur bandwidth...take a chance

and to answer your question, I do not provide tracklists for the simple reason that if one knows the tracks in the set, they kinda know whats coming next and it ruins the element of surprise i guess... in addition, i guess i would also like to know which tracks people are digging by then actually asking to ID a track in a set for them rather than them already knowing the name from a list

ya dig?

listen buddy, my time is too valuable to be wasted on listening to sets that I might not like. Post a tracklist so I know whether I'll like it beforehand.

one day when i become as big as tiesto, u wont need a tracklist cos u'll know which tracks u'll hear in every set and automatically love my stuff...

Hey thanks dude, glad you like em. I've got close to 20, 420 sessions, so I dunno even know what you listened too
btw, there already is a special thread mate, it's stickied to the top of the TOTA forums. That's the inspiration for this thread, LOL

Dude, I know exactly where you are coming from! I don't normally look at tracklists before I listen to a set either. I look at it like a movie.. I don't wanna know what's going to happen next, and I wanna see where the Dirtector (or DJ) takes me... plus, if I know all the tracks ahead of time, I know what to expect and I REALLY REALLY pay attention to their mixing. Good dj's should mix flawlessly without anyone knowing what track is about to come in before they hear it... as you pointed out, the element of surprise can be a very powerful tool in a mix.

BUT....

When you're trying to promote yourself, you need to give people a depiction of what you are spinning! People will NEVER download a random set if they don't know the DJ or even what style of music he plays. When people ask you DIRECTLY to send them your mix, then send them a tracklist after they've listened to it, becasue obviously they already like your style and want to hear more. Sometimes people really dig certain tracks in your mix, and already know the name, so they will never ask you about it... when in fact, if people see you are playing lots of their favorite tunes, the chances of them downloading and listening to your mix is FAR greater!!! You're seeking attention the wrong way by hoping people will always ask you about certain tracks... cause it shouldn't be all about the tracks, but the entire mix!

well all i gotta say to that is...i put the genres on there. if thats a genre u may like, just download it. but i really dont want to argue cos TAs in general find any reason not to check anything out by me except for a few so i really dont care.

another reason i dont want to share my tracklist openly is cos i dont want to share track names since majority of the tracks i find no one has ever heard of (let alone even know the artist names at times)

Ah..yes..now im selfish...

mix thread...last page...

i assume this is gonna be an extremely critical listen cos of this thread but im used to it...

Posted by Mortyman on May-23-2007 05:44:

Not really... but you do have me curious to hear what you play
btw, it's not on the last page

EDIT: Minimal, tech house, progressive. Not really my thing dude, so critiquing it would be pointless, I just wanted to know if I knew any of the tracks that you supposedly find that no one else has

anyways, the thread title doesn't make this thread sound like a nice thread, it sounds sort of hostile to me.
