Summerfest

http://www.summerfest.com

So what's everyone think of the lineup thus far?

All I can say is that if at all possible, I'm going to be seeing Morris Day & the Time, even if I have to drive down after work, and back to Point right after to work the next morning!

Posted by RJT on May-23-2007 01:07:

Oh yeah, and their website sucks.

Seriously. It's awful.

Posted by lcid on May-23-2007 01:29:

wow, weak lineup this year. there aren't really any acts that i'd go out of my way to see, other than Willy Porter.

and Roger Waters, of course... but i can't be arsed to pay for tickets to that.

Posted by Yuris on May-23-2007 01:51:

already got my front row tickets for Lifehouse

Posted by Omega_Blue on May-23-2007 02:58:

yeah, the website is absolutely terrible. the lineup looks great for an indie-rock thing though. looking forward to Tool (danny carey's got skillz) but i dunno about dropping $60 at the marcus amphitheatre. i plan on going just about every day. got it planned out for the most part too. bear with me here..

violent femmes
OAR, silversun pickups, fuel
ludacris, local H
reel big fish
keller williams, bb king, sevendust
chevelle
live, collective soul

also, steve smooth & jj flores' band "shockstars" will be there as well. sounds interesting.

..and let's not forget dashboard confessional, AFI, and toby keith too

Posted by Rasidel Slika on May-23-2007 03:14:

dang, havent been there since '94 (for DM - amazing show, of course)..

the only thing I see interesting is

June 29th
Def Leppard w/ Styx & Foreigner

and Tool.

overall very weak... and yeah terrible website.. I think there were better sites in '98.

i was gonna mention them but i haven't really been into them as much as i used to be, and when i saw them at Summerfest 3 years ago it was really hard to handle the emo high school crowd.

but i'll always Chris Carrabba.

Posted by arecebo on May-23-2007 03:20:

Morris Day and the motherfucking Time, that shit is the maaaad notes.

Posted by Yuris on May-23-2007 05:27:

it's a tossup between Lifehouse and Collective Soul

how does one man make a choice that will weigh so heavily on his consciousness

Posted by razzi on May-23-2007 06:42:

last year at summerfest one of the girls in my group puked on someone in front of us in the bleachers during the counting crows/goo goo dolls.

i might attend if i am not too broke to drive all the way up from st louis..

razzi

also +1 for horrendous website

oops!

got my TOOL tix, and looking for some booms to go with them [4th of July fireworks!]

...plan on seeing Hellyeah [with Vinnie Paul of Pantera!!]

Still hoping for an EDM artist to be there, but Im sure like last year, there won't be.

I'll never forget Oakenfold with Felix Da Housecat, and another year, a DJ set by the Crystal Method. Fucking killer.

Posted by denys envy on May-23-2007 17:01:

I missed last year's... i might go this year tentatively.

here's what i likes -

Shiny Toy Guns - June 29th
John Mayer w/ Ben Folds & Brett Dennen - July 3rd
BB King - July 5th

and is it just me or did I not see any quality EDM available?

I remember standing next to undercover cop at that show. He kept looking around for people doing drugs and I kept asking him what he thought of this inspirational music

ha, thanks.

anyway i was right in front of the sound booth right behind the "handicapped" area, standing up in the back of it and leaning on the railing.

edit: when he played traffic i captured some of it on my celly. it sounded like shit but i still have that recording to this day.

Posted by apple country on May-23-2007 20:06:

I was such an EDM n00b then...all I knew in his set was his U2 remix.

Felix played some tight remixes too.

Posted by lcid on May-23-2007 20:14:

that's pretty funny that there were so many TAs at that show, but i don't think i had met any of you at that point. probably a good thing considering how messy i was that night.

shit, and the BT and Crystal Method show.. i showed my fake ID to a cop because i didn't want to get kicked out, and he totally bought it!

ahhhhh... fun times!

Posted by Omega_Blue on May-23-2007 20:29:

yeah, i was at oakenfold also! good times. best moment was hearing wonky vs. radiohead - street spirit or whatever.

edit: btw myra are you coming out tonight?

shit... totally forgot about tonight, but i'll be there for sure. what time are you guys getting there? and what time is your set? i can't stay out too late 'cause ive been trying to work mad overtime this week so i can leave early on Friday, but i'll come hang out for a while.

Posted by wolverine16 on May-23-2007 20:56:

I was also at BT w/ Crystal Method & Oakenfold w/ Felix. Both great time, especially the candy ravers who were staring at the ferris wheel lights. I think that was like a week before I first saw Mike Khoury spin in the lounge when Oakenfold played the Vic. Wow, that seems so long ago.

This year, like always, there's some 80s metal to check out, but it's too spread out. I like how the website states ALL FOUR ORIGINAL MEMBERS OF ASIA!

Just hope that July 3rd doesn't become good at Summerfest because of Sander K in Chicago

Posted by RJT on May-23-2007 20:56:

I wish I could come out tonight =\

I was in my drug phase then. I had a pretty kick ass roll that night, until my friends shafted me for an afterward gathering and I went sober with a snap of the fingers.
