Brits Boycott Israeli Universites

Pretty sick if you ask me - regardless of your political allignments and opinions on palestinian conflict, why the hell start boycotting people who are just trying to learn?
This isn't a quetion about anti isarelism or anti zionism its a question of anti-semitism.
These british unions have been denying isareli noble lauretes to come and speak and their universites.
A growing backlash has been growing and the petition link is http://www.petitiononline.com/stopucu/petition.html
Blah, who thought the arab/israeli conflict would trump academic freedom
It's a sad day for liberty
:-(
Awesome!

| Originally posted by cdzromm yes... yes that is anti semitic the boycott has absolutely nothing to do with the academic institutions themselves. The reaons for the boycott are not academically related (such as lets say lack of educational funding, or lack of teacher benifits) the boycott is based upon political issues and qualms that these institutions have absolutely no control over no any interest in. stop acting so stupid. |

I told myself never to enter this forum again for it's really time consuming, but I'll make an exception this time.

). or the palestinian universites for the missiles launched into Sderot (and I can make you a list of a lot more countries they should boycott or should have boycotted for war crimes). then their act wouldn't be anti-semitic.Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Brits Boycott Israeli Universites

| Cuba remains the one country in Latin America that represses nearly all forms of political dissent. President Fidel Castro, during his 47 years in power, has shown no willingness to consider even minor reforms. Instead, the Cuban government continues to enforce political conformity using criminal prosecutions, long- and short-term detentions, mob harassment, police warnings, surveillance, house arrests, travel restrictions, and politically-motivated dismissals from employment. The end result is that Cubans are systematically denied basic rights to free expression, association, assembly, privacy, movement, and due process of law. |
