Terminator 2 doesn't make sense

basic time travel logic. why would James Cameron(director, executive producer, co-writer) not see the flaw of sending someone through time to affect a future in which the event of sending someone through time would not occur? The war will happen because it happens.

That's the whole point

but why send a Arnold through time to protect john connor. he is supposed to live until he forms the resistance. if Arnold wasn't there, a meteor probably would've crashed into Agent Dogget's head.

He only lives long enough to do that because they send him back to protect him from the skinny dude that can turn into liquid metal

even if liquid man kills john connor, it would set up an alternate timeline where the war would STILL occur, and Conner would have been an insignificant casualty, and someone else would've risen to resistance leader, at which point, Skynet would send Liquidman back in time to kill the to-be general. General Connor's universe would still exist, where he is fighting skynet in 2036

i was going to say that.
/rip from 'Back to the Future 2'

so are we saying James Cameron ripped off the storyline from BTTF2 ?

you have created a mess with this time travel nonsense. My head hurts.

Fuck dude, I think the whole point is that connor eventually leads the resistance to destroy skynet. Preventing the war was never an option, skynet is trying to kill him to prevent its destruction. If liquidman kills him, then there is noone to lead the resistance to destroy skynet.

My head hurts now also

i like the bit with the explosion

Posted by Lira on Jun-18-2007 20:20:

1)Things spontaneously blew up.
2)Liquid man reassembled.
3)Android spoke Spanish.

How can that seem illogical to you?!

it's redundant. There is only 1 timeline (per universe). If skynet killed Connor (impossible), the timeline (for that universe), still implies that Connor existed and was still a threat to skynet, thus needed to be assassinated. Time paradox. If Terminator 3 says Conner lived until 2036, then that's what happens.

Its the same as going back in time and killing your father or kicking your mother in the stomach before you are given birth(terminate yourself), etc. How then, do you exist?

There are always the creation of alternate universe to accommodate massive changes done by time travelers, but the timelines to individual timelines are always the same. Which is why if Liquid man had killed Connor, an alternate universe would've opened up where SOMEONE ELSE would be resistance leader and connor's original universe would explode or something.

The only reason the resistance sent Arnaold to protect john is because the Machines sent Dogget first.

Posted by Ripped Bag on Jun-18-2007 22:23:

Dogget is sent to stop Biff but also has plans for John

IT'S A BLOODY FUCKING MOVIE!

MAKING SENSE IS NOT ITS JOB!

ITS JOB WAS TO BE "THA BIGGEST MOVIE OF THA SUMMAH" (Arnold quote).

IT DID THAT.

MrS

p.s. I did that all with the shift key, no caps lock, honest.
