Clipping In Tracks
I don't know if it's a fault of the producers or a fault of the digital purchase sites, but more and more I've been hearing a lot of tunes by established, professional producers with clipping in the track.
If it's the producers, SLOW DOWN and take your time getting your levels right!
If it's the digital purchase sites, somone's gotta fix that cause these great tunes are getting destroyed by all this clipping.
the release of ame - shiro on beatport clips but the clips have been 'softened' so that it just sounds very distorted
the beatport version of bt - fibonacci sequence is terribly clipped
what do you mean by "download sites"
i think a better name to call em is "digital purchase sites"
its a ploy by to get you to purchase the vinyl..

| Originally posted by adx I have a few records that sound clipped too. Ive been having good luck with Sonic CD creator as it has a track normalizer feature. It actually does work. |
los angeles clippers
absolutely hate it when i get a track that clips
waste of $
It's funny, really. Technology is improving all the time and yet when it comes to music, any advances in sound quality are being nullified through tracks being mastered way too loud.

im surprised any label would even release a track with clipping. thats stupid
Music does sound subjectively "better" to most people when played loud.
But there is an important distinction between "played loud" and "made loud." Some people seem to have forgotten that there are volume knobs on stereos.

I got Terry Grant - I'll Kill You off Beatport when it first came out and it clips really bad. I forget whether it was the original mix or Luke Chable's mix.
Seems that stuff purchased off Beatport can be a problem. I've had a couple of tracks bought off Beatport that have clipped and generally been off poor sound quality - most recently Dominik Eulberg "Bionik" - listened to it once and immediately deleted it.
my friend and i sent an email to BP earlier today, hopefully they take notice.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, because my knowledge of mastering etc is pitiful, but I have been using this program for a few years to normalise all my mp3s.
It analyses a group of mp3s, detects clipping, then normalises them all to 89.9dB, or whatever level you want - all losslessly.
It works fine for me, and does actually seem to fix clipping, of which about 30% of the files I feed into it seem to do.

| Originally posted by kadomony thats a good program, i used to use it alot. problem is, it only works on maximizing tracks that dont clip already. if a track is clipping, the data for the part of the waveform that is clipping is not recoverable. |

Label: "Well if all the other tracks are loud like that, we CAN'T stay behind. People would be like, your track is soft!"
