adam beyer @ timewarp 2002

he played chester beatty - turia (b1) and another tune (he's using 3 dexx)
and then adds sj shufflemaster - geylang and plays 3 songs

can make sample later

bellies transition from gaiden - point blank (speedy j remix) to christian varlea - pitch structures in his set from ID&T radio is also very nice

i'll upload sample of this one too later

many many more transitions that are excellent (the one from caves' set from a radio station [download set @ www.cave.no] when he mixes from chester beatty - turia (b1) to chester beatty - goldenball ep (b1) and ben sims - voodoo tribe 3 channel transition, r00xxx too)

yahel - voyage into free radicals - surreal... wow!

Posted by JohnSmith on Apr-16-2002 16:31:

hmmm...

i want to post what my favorite transition is, it's 2 classic tracks, with the most PERFECT melody synchonization, 2 pianos playing the harmonizing notes over top of each other.

I have only ever mixed it on the computer with Virtual Turntables though even with crappy quality mp3s, and shitty computer speakers, my friend said the mix was so beautiful he almost cried.

i'm afraid to say what the 2 tracks are, lest someone else do it, and steal my great mix.

when i get the vinyls, i will mix it and record a sample.

sorry, just can't let it go..

but i will say that EVERY transition on DJ Tiesto - Magick 6, absolutely rocks, especially the one out of Delerium Silence and into Moogwai Viola..

hmm.. i just realized that: YAHEL - VOYAGE --> FREE RADICAL - SURREAL (EN MOTION MIX) was from magick 6 too

the immortal DJ tiesto..

No particular transition comes to mind, but generally anything done by Sasha is amazing. His full 2-minute mixes never fail to amaze me.

James Holden did one crazy transition in his EM set where (I think) he has already faded out Starecase-'Faith'(Loafer Mix) and Yunus-'Red Pilot' was well under way and already three quaters played, then by some miracle he let in Faith again a phase earlier than when he faded it out. It's truely amazing.. if I didn't get it wrong, of course.

YEAH!!
The most amazing, ingenious, mind-blowing mix i have ever heard was done by Sasha on his Global Underground GU013 Ibiza album Disk 2

From--"Paganani Traxx : Zoe" to "Cass & Slide : Perception"

Absolutely phenominal, this mix opened me up to a whole new thought when creating my own mixes.

Can any one else out there with this album back me up on this??????

edit: thnx verm

Posted by mute79 on Apr-16-2002 21:00:

as far as i know, that gu13 mixed by sasha was not actually a turntable performance, he picked the tracks, and this dude, i forget his name, mixed it in the studio with computers and shit...

I have the exact same records spun in that set, and I have re-created the mix myself. So i know it can be done with vinyl. As for what you are saying, a lot of that set has parts of it that are sampled and played into other tracks etc. As far as exactly how that was done, i do not know.

All i know is that the mix i am talking about(Paganini Traxx: Zoe -to-Cass & Slide: Perception) is legit.

As far as I know, GUs aren't recorded live. It's done by turntables though, and it must have been done by Sasha himself. If he simply chose the sequence of the tracks and left some shit computer to do it then shame on GU.

Posted by patticus on Apr-17-2002 17:15:

only nick warren and someone else (i think tenaglia) are GU's live.
the rest are studio/pro tools jobs..
um.. i have a couple half-decent transitions, hehe.

if u have these records, try it yourself.

sonorous glass garden (speed mix) - riva stringer (just mash the whole thing)
miro paradise - afterburn frattyboy (leave the vocal over the afterburn)

albion air 2000 - salt tank dimension (mix the breakdowns)

louise - 2 faced (agnelli & nelson dub) - mauna kea

etc.

Posted by Great Outdoors on Apr-18-2002 09:41:

Albion- Air 2000: is that the Oliver Lieb Mix? I have sooo much difficulty fading out that one, there's so much happening even at the end of the track that it's impossible to do a decent transition. I've tried fading in techno, drum and bass, even Britney Spears, nothing seems to work.

Posted by patticus on Apr-18-2002 17:12:

erm no its i think ferry corsten's remix.. 'air 2000'
on the a-side with a remix by 'the swimmer' on the b-side.

i dont think its that hard to mix out? the melody is pretty much the same as the original 'air'

i'm gonna be conceited and remark on one that i did:

talkin' (off of sashas ibiza LP) into Lemon8's Lose Control (original) and then into Tijuana's Groove is in the Air (simon's mad noise mix)

yeah i know it's 3 but it just flowed for me. vinyl was controlling me, not the other way around

Heeh, I like the way you said that.

Post it up! Host it somewhere and let us have a listen.
