Angry F*&% the university system.

Seriously.

Long story short - I attended a Uni in 2003 for a while, and then family stuff happened (deaths, illnesses) and I dropped out to take care of my family.

A few years later, I readmitted myself into school at a different school to continue my education and finished a degree.

Now, I was trying to get back into the original uni to further my education/get another degree, and I was DENIED readmittance! Even though I FINISHED a degree somewhere else, and managed to keep a VERY high GPA at the new school, the old one doesn't give a flying f*#$ to say the least.

F@#^ this crap! Why is it so damn hard to get an education in this f*&#ing country?!?!?!

If I worked my ass off to raise my gpa and finish a degree, proving that I've gotten my life back on track, why the hell can't I make my life even better by getting a higher degree?!

try somewhere else

Posted by Spacey Orange on Jul-24-2007 19:24:

it's not them, it's you.

edit

goddam chach. you got the fatest hands on the interweb.

Posted by Frenchie on Jul-24-2007 19:28:

That's school. They'd rather someone who , in their eyes. is more focused enough not to drop out. To them school should be placed above everything else. After all dead people can't pay your way thtough school and life. ( That's what teacher told me )

Posted by dj tek on Jul-24-2007 19:30:

did they guarantee re-admittance once youve dropped out ?
if somewhere it says they dont, you the fool for bitchin

There really ISN'T anywhere else where I live. Everything else is private uni which I was looking at, but they're like 14000$ a year.

It just pisses me off. I even had a medical withdrawl from that semester I dropped out.

and yes, it says guaranteed readmittance for anyone who left the school and finished their AA or any other kind of degree. You only have to finish 2 semesters at a community college.

I'm sorry that family tragedies don't warrant a fucking pardon.

Community college.... online classes... its really not as difficult as your making it out.

Posted by squirrelly on Jul-24-2007 19:35:

I know I'm bitching but I'm fuming. I have worked really fucking hard to get where I'm at and to know that everyone's FALL BACK SCHOOL fucking denied me readmittance? If family members dying isn't a good enough excuse I don't know what is besides me dying myself.

been there, done that.

you can only get your AA at a cc.

an actual bachelors you have to finish at a uni.

Posted by Frenchie on Jul-24-2007 19:38:

That's messed. Fight it, and hard. Apeal it and write letters. I've seen people write their way back in who have the worse grades ever. I'm sure someone as educated as you make youself seem to be can get back in. It's a matter of contacting the right people.

I already set a date for an appeal.

Military Term:

FUBAR = fucked up beyond all recognition.

SNAFU = situation normal, all fucked up.

Yeah but community colleges don't offer 4 year degrees. And online schools usually don't offer a good choice of programs. If you want a good degree like chemistry, physics, mathematics, engineering, or similar then you have to go to a real school.

And to the OP definitely try to appeal. I know all of the schools I've gone to you have to reapply if you're gone for a semester, but they're supposed to automatically let you in if you're in good standing at any other institutions attended.

Wow.

Posted by squirrelly on Jul-24-2007 19:47:

I'd understand if I bs'd my way through cc and then tried to get back into a uni. But I didn't do that. I got back into an affordable school and worked really, really hard. Managed to even make it on the Deans list.

That's what i am trying to do right now. Finish two AA's at a CC so i can transfer to MIT.
I am trying to do both Comp Sci + Comp Engineering at once. Maybe if i can prove ubernerd-ness they will overlook the fact that it's taken me forever to get here. I can't wait to explain what the hell happened. It's like a bad Michael Bay plot. I haven't had a single semester where things didn't blow up to high hell in new and interesting ways that i didn't imagine possible. it's seriously like my life finds the most creative ways to break when something important is going on for school.

and i totally understand the backup school thing + family pressure.
i am the oldest of four kids and the only one in a non-Ivy League type school.
it's super fun to go to family gatherings "and what are you doing..."

ooooooh. I daren't ask what happened then mate. been there myself though

Posted by FallingMoon on Jul-24-2007 19:59:

I know the feeling

I dropped one class "too many times" which was like 2 and they banned me from taking it there so I had to transfer to another school to take that ONE class because I NEEDED it.

I dropped it because school + full time work is hard & I was a full time student @ the time taking 4 classes

due to a medical reason... (spending months in a cast/crutches/cane)
i had to drop 2.5 semesters worth of classes and get incompletes in the classes i thought i could finish later. because of that i now am not eligible for financial aid even though i have A's in my other classes. So i now have to fix all the old classes so i can have the gov't help me pay for school. There should be a "duress" clause because let me tell you, all those f-ing lab fees i have suck my non-existent left testicle.
Don't even get me started on what my books cost.

It sucks... i hate trying to move forward while walking backwards fixing the old.

Posted by squirrelly on Jul-24-2007 20:17:

I just applied to a private uni. It's going to multiply my costs 8 times but I'm just so pissed off I don't even want to step foot on that stupid fucking campus ever again.

The private uni is willing to help me with financial aid right away and put me in classes in August where the old school told me I'd have to pay out of pocket my first year back.

take that you sons of bitches!

Posted by Zild on Jul-24-2007 20:19:

That happened to me too. I was going to get a two semesters of Fs dropped through a medical withdraw, but it would have meant I would have fucked up my financial aid. So I took my lumps and took the GPA hit.
