The Chemicals Brothers are coming in 2008

‘WE ARE THE NIGHT’

CHEMICAL BROTHERS AUSTRALIAN TOUR ANNOUNCED

FOR MARCH 2008!

It’s been three long years since the Chemical Brothers unmistakable brand of electronic insanity gripped the nation.

Five albums, three Grammy Awards, countless hit singles and some nine million album sales later, the Chemical Brothers bring their explosive new live show to Australia.

The sensory overload that is the Chemical Brothers live experience was launched at the world famous Glastonbury Festival earlier this year. The closing set left punters and media alike astounded at the sheer scale and epic spectacle of the Chemical’s mind blowing audio-visual assault. Following Glasto, the band have rocked Fuji Rock Festival in Japan, Montreax Jazz Festival, The Summercase Festivals in Spain and have appearances scheduled at Bestival, Electric Picnic Ireland, Creamfields UK, not one but three Brixton Academy’s and a huge show in London’s Trafalgar Square, amongst many others, before arriving to Australia in March 2008.

“I just feel it’s a blessing to be able to do something which gets people out of their homes and experiencing something together,” says Ed. “When you play live and see a sea of people with their hands in their air, smiling, that’s what I feel most proud of: making music that is loud and powerful enough to bring people together.”

To get an advanced preview of the Chemicals juggernaut as it rolls toward Australia, check out their Glastonbury live set in four parts below:

“We Are The Night”, featuring the hit singles “Do It Again” and “Salmon Dance” is without doubt The Chemical Brothers finest record yet, featuring twelve tracks of psychedelic warehouse party acid music, euphorically melodic and as uncompromising as their retina scorching live shows. It’s the fifth studio album from the Chemical Brothers, all of which have hit the number 1 position in the UK at release.

Recorded under the cover of darkness in a bombproof bunker in South London, “We Are The Night” is a route map through modern psychedelia. Effortlessly evoking the dancefloors of Manchester and Minneapolis in the early 80s and London of 2007, this is The Chemical Brothers at their very best. Infectious from the ominous opening through to the gorgeous dying embers, the record features some of their most mind-blowing music to date, a massive step up for the duo in terms of both production and sound. The album builds on the band's immense back catalogue and reaffirms them as true pioneers of electronic music, a band who are consistently hugely successful both critically and commercially.
“We Are The Night” follows on from 2005’s “Push The Button”, which featured the huge single “Galvanize”, the most played record on Radio One of that year. As is often the way with Chemical Brothers records, it achieved a life of it’s own, soundtracking everything from South American raves to the Notting Hill Carnival and all points in between.

Looks to be happening with Modular but nothing released yet.

firstly, text only copy-pastes please

secondly, finest album yet?
who writes this? The Chems are responsible for one of the greatest electronic albums ever (Surrender), this new album has only a few glimpses of former glory. I think mainly they haven't changed THAT much, they are still big beat essentially, and well, that was great 7+ years ago. Although, they have gone a lot more poppy in the last 3 albums, and I would rate this one slightly above Push the Button, so 2nd to last in terms of brilliance.

Anyway, I've never seen the Chems, but I'm thinking they are passed it?

For instance, Bob Dylan is playing tonight, one of the greatest song writers ever, but I'm not going to see some old man as part of a stage show. I wish I was born 30 years earlier, to see him in some dim lit packed out bar. Same with the Chems, now thier music has no movement to carry, so you wouldnt be able to engage with them and everyone else at all.

Only two gigs in one corner of the country and they call this a "tour"?

They could do much better than that. Had they been playing in Brisbane or Adelaide I would have considered going.

Dancing Dude

don't think I will bother with this.. anyone seen em before?! Not a massive fan really... But yeah big hype already really!

i think on itm they said chems possibly here for NYE? anyway i'd love to see them. how can you put "salmon dance" and "finest album yet" in the same sentence? fuck.

Posted by Renegade on Aug-21-2007 15:08:

Would have seen them if they were playing Future (which someone told me might still be the case?) but probably wouldn't fork out to see them on their own. "Dig Your Own Hole" is still one of the best electronic albums of all time though...

C'mon guys it's P.R! Some of the things that get written about DJs such as Tiesto makes me want to gauge my eyes out but you know, it's a press release!

I love The Chemical Brothers and have seen footage from them in The Boiler Room at BDO and other festivals. Cant wait to see them

Posted by kelsta on Aug-22-2007 04:22:

Caught them at BDO '05.. great set with the festival vibe

They were on the rumour list for BDO '08 but I guess that's been squashed now.

Don't know how I feel about seeing them at the arena... very different atmosphere and show no doubt.

Posted by Anomyst on Aug-22-2007 04:41:

there with bells on, thier show at bdo a few years ago i was left totally speechless. dont miss this! i pity the fooooooool!

Posted by charlee on Aug-22-2007 05:16:

Maybe they are doing BDO and then their own tour? Who knows, just wait and see I guess!

Maybe they could do it in the round like Justin Timberlake?

I saw them in 2002 in a small club in NYC and at WMC 2004 in Miami.

The first time I saw them in 2002 it was good b/c it was a small venue. What kind of venue is the place they are playing at in Sydney like?

Entertainment centre is a pretty decent venue, it's nice in that it's close to the city (it's right on darling harbour) and it's plenty big (big arena-sized).
