Is downloading a Compilation wrong?

I thought the boards needed to be spiced up, so I decided to start an argument.

I think it's wrong to Dl a compilation, the majority of the time you know the style of the Dj and the songs that are on it so why Dl it. There is no valid reason to do it other than to steal from the artist.

Ok I'm ready for the flames.

Talking

the valid reason is u wanna hear the way the albums mixed

And I bet u still download them

Posted by trintiy on Apr-20-2002 19:07:

Actually I don't and I remove them from my audiogalaxy account before they start to Dl. If you wanna hear how it's mixed buy it! I mean there are enough live sets floating around that the artist aren't making money of off to keep everyone happy, why steal the compilation.

Dunno

Nothings wrong with downloading something, as long as you buy it if you really like it.

Talking

why buy when u can get for free?

hehehe I like this thread

Posted by Nell on Apr-20-2002 19:28:

i agrre with raccoon, buy it if u like it enough.

also if its an artists own album i.e. tiesto - in my memory then i wouldnt Dl it.

if its a mix album i.e. trance nation 2002, then who gives a f*ck its not all their own material if any at all.

but seriously, i stopped downloading them a while back now i just get live sets....and i don't care if people download them

Firstly i think it is a bit lame to start a thread to start a flame war, but i am sure you r only meaning it in a fun way

Anyway i personally think it is ok to download compilations for sampling, and thenn i go out and buy the albums. I got fed up with buying shitty albums. So this way is better coz now i only have good albums

Oh and i would recommend Godskitchen - life, top album

*Yawns* Yes it's all in jest, just to liven things up.

I do agree with D-G though, I bet 95% of the people who say they only Dl to see what its like never go out and buy it if its good.

Plus like I said why would you have to see what it's like, most of the time you know 90% of the songs that are on it, and the Dj's style of mixing. Why would you need to sample it?

Just becasue you knoq the dj style doesnt meen it will b good, trance nations are crap now coz ferry has no say in track selection. And how many times has someon come back from a live event and said that the dj was not what they were expecting, and this is like compilations You dont no what they will be like until you have heard them obviously

Posted by D_G on Apr-20-2002 20:01:

Fly, yea i can understand that about live sets but about the TN thingy... surely u can just look at the tracklisting to decide if u'l like it or not...? to me, the mixing doesnt really matter that much on compilation CDs anyways, just the siongs that r on them...but thats probably just me

Posted by Stanza on Apr-20-2002 20:01:

Well I d/l compilations because I simply cannot get my hands on them in any other way. Most of the stuff I d/l from AG, I can't get in my local record store unless you go pay like %50 or more for an album which I think is absolutely ridiculous.

i agree with fly. it sucks big time when u spend 20 bucks on a cd that is not worth shit. so i like to sample it and then buy it and besides not everyone has cd-r's to copy the cd so u buy the cd to enjoy it wherever.

laterz...
