Some tracks to use for intro?

I need some help ppl.

This is similar to the post about tracks with best intro's i guess.

Which tracks would be good to use as an intro song for a progressive/trancy sort of mix? Preferrably with some sweet vocals.

Thanking you all now coz i'll forget later.

Sphere and Accorsi - Set the Mood <-- the name says it all.

Starts off with random, dark aesthetics, and distorted, trippy vocals, then the beat slowly grows and it becomes one thumping prog track before giving way to some pretty female wailing towards the end.

C'mon, you know the one.

Thanks mate... just q'd it in AG... see how we go... I'm not that good with track names...

Posted by Renegade on Apr-22-2002 14:57:

Nah that's cool man, I wouldn't expect you to know it. I was just taking the piss out of my describing skills.......

If you like prog music btw, then I've got plenty of atmospheric tunes to kick off a set with. If you like that Sphere and Accorsi one then I'll give you a list of similar tracks that you might find handy.

Check out these:

Resistance D - You Were There (Jam & Spoon's Light and Laser Remix) (acidic, but those vocals in the beginning...roll over,Depeche Mode)
Lemon 8 - The Only Way (Has a bumpin' prog-groove,not too fast, not too slow.Perfect opener)
Paul van Dyk - Vega (Starecase Remix) (That goes for this one as well)
Bedrock - Beautiful Strange (Moonface Remix) (AWESOME bassline)
DJ Nukem vs Chab - Wanted (but only if it's a dark mix you're doing)
Project Medusa vs Exor - Moonshine (Exor Mix Pt.II) (This should ONLY be played in full length,as it has such a beautiful intro.A good opener, too.)

Hell yeah, amazing starting track
I quite like Trancesetters - The Saga
or Smashing Pumpkins - Perfect (Perfecto mix)
but it all depends on the set

Didn't read the previous posts, sorry if I repeat anything...

First of all, a lot of Trance and other genres' albums have an intro as their first track IE "Kai Tracid - Tracid Theme", "Blank and Jones - On A Journey", "Scooter - Keyser Soze".

Second, you can start playing a trackfrom the first break, which works in most cases like an intro!

As for specific tracks:

Gouryella - In Walhalla (Long spoken part, very weird)

Aria -Dido (Armin Van Buuren's Universal Religion remix) >>> Amazing long intro!

Hmmzz... turned out I had less in mind than I thought...

Honestly, when I am practicing/recording, I often times choose to start my set with a track that I want to have in that set, but don't feel very good about trying to mix it into anything else.
For example, many times I had started sets with Mauro Picotto - Save A Soul (Komodo) (Mauro Picotto Private Mix) ...it has a bit of atmosphere and excellent vocals to start (too old to play now though)
Another one like that would have to be Hypetraxx - Paranoid (DJ Scot Project) ...I would start it off on the first vocal portion.
More and more, I am feeling the urge to start somewhere else though and very gradually build a crescendo, so I like ambient as the opener. I'd give my favorite example at the moment, but I don't want to give away the tracklisting of my CD before it is finished!

Alibi - Eternity
Armin - Communication

Josh Wink - Hows youre evening so far ?

This would get those bastards bouncing on the dance floor. I beleive on the record it has a 3cm intro silence ! I recommend it, Its Quite down Tempo.
