Jurgen Vries – The Theme
I love this song, first heard it on a ministry of sound compilation, then heard the Dumonde (??) remix in a recorded set. Unfortunately I've never heard it played in a big club... What other songs sound like this? I love the melody, but the whole way the track is put together I like very much. Of course I'd never put more than one song like this in an entire set, it's pretty much a one time deal. Ideas?
Carbon14
Allow me to be the first to say:

Fell in love with this one like 5 years ago and then the trance quest begun. Not quite what I would listen to today though.
I remember when this was brand new and Darren Tate wouldn't license the original mix to be used on compilations. It's still a unique track and you don't really get instrumental trance this poppy and overtly melodic anymore. I'm sure a lot of people sneer at it, but I think it's a great track. I really like the bridge and the piano chords supporting the lead in the second half. It may have been populist but it was really well written. I can't really think of any others like it, although that lead synth cropped up in a lot of bubble gum European hard trance for a couple of years afterwards.
damn.. well yeah i agree it obviously has the flavor of cheese written into it but it's a GOOD track. in fact it is the perfect example of how glad i am that electronic music includes the cheese sounds that it does. becuase they aren't all good, but not all the dark or tribal sounds are that badass anyway. i think if you look at what the big dj's play (except for "anthem" omg) and what the majority of people (read: mainstream edm folks) like its obvious that some cheese is gladly accepted. plus its wickedly cool when you're massively f*cked up!
one of the best tracks of all time, imo along with The Wilderness.
LOVE Tate's older stuff like this.
i so remember this song i was lisening to it non stop back in its day
it makes a great cell phone ringer.

Can't say I enjoy it much now but at the time, I loved it. Hearing it dropped peak time at Passion (when Passion was at its peak) is something I'll always remember
This is an odd one. You dont hear many Trance tunes (without vocals) storming the charts and having alot of mainstream success.
The Piano chords are quite nice i think. But its that warping high pitched synth melody that i have a problem with sometimes!
always hated this track!!!

Always loved The Theme, though I havent listened to it in quite some time.
If youre looking for a similar song, I always thought Michael Woods - Solex always fit in the same category, probably for the lead used. For god's sake though, get the instrumental version
Try EnMass - Needle Damage if you want something that sounds fairly similar.
Always thought this track was a big piece of cheese! a Judge Jules fav for sure....he likes the cheddar!!
let the light shine in!!
yeh the theme rocks too

i think the thing i love about the main melody is the use of vibrato. it's not that obvious, but it's there. it's an important detail that too many producers ignore completely.
Im sorry but 'The Wilderness' is much better
That string is going wild!

i always liked the dumonde remix. it's cheesy as fuck though, but that doesn't put me off from liking it. i don't think i've ever even heard the original version.
