Lets include a calculator!

If only we could somehow also provide a Supersize Value Meal from McDonalds for the trifecta.

I thought the reason parents bought monopoly was for their children to learn how to cheat people out of money

Monopoly debit card!! It teaches them how to use basic knowledge of what we use in everyday life.

Everyone uses calculators.

If it's any consolation, I didn't read any of the 4 other posts.

Of course the debit card is an ALRIGHT idea but calculator? I could understand it being used for more tedious mathematics but simple addition/subtraction.

My son is going to do his homework on a slab of wood and write with a metal pick and hammer

Awesome!

My son is going to do his homework in a cave by writing hieroglyphics on the wall!

I will implant a computing chip in my son's brain to do math. He will be smarter than your kids. Oh yeah.

Posted by Ygrene on Sep-26-2007 01:58:

Whatever. My son will only think in terms of 1s and 0s.

analog thinking > digital thinking.

Digitized thinking = quantization of analog signals = loss of data = BRAIN DAMAGE

Doesn't the analog sygnals from your body get converted to digital anyway because of the way things work depends on what neural pathways it goes down therefore it either goes down a pathway or it doesn't.

Calculator is kind of redundant really, people should have a fairly good grasp of these things without having to resort to the calculator, it's just ludicrous.
Should make it more relistic with the addition of the credit card, then watch as the games decays into a never ending debt with 25% interest

It's kind of worrying for me to see people so reliant on mechanical memory and basic numeracy skills.
Sort of why when I once said, I don't really use the majority of functions in a mobile phone, not even the phone book in it.
"Why, you some kind of moron?"
"No, I just remember them after dialling them a couple of times"
"That's Bullshit"

People bagged me out for remembering phone numbers? I mean, when I was growing up and that's not so long ago, there wasn't a lot of mobile phones, PDA's didn't exist and laptops where well out of the range of most people.
So, I remembered them!
It's just how you dialled phone numbers, by either remembering them or writing them down! It's really not that damn hard!

I sort of agree.

I can still remember the phone numbers for my 5 closest friends' PARENTS. Just from high school, and dialing the numbers. High school was 10 years ago!
