Danny Howells Appreciation Thread
I've been listening to his Nocturnal Frequencies, Vol. 3 mixed compilation and his July '02 Essential Mix this morning, and it's striking to me how many styles Danny Howells has adopted over the years and how brilliant he is with each. Whether it's a liveset or a cd, he's never disappointed. It would be very tough to try and rank my favorite sounds from him since he has spun everything from downtempo to tribal to funk to progressive house/trance to deepsexyfuturistictechhousefunk over the years. I'm curious what sound he's been playing lately, as I haven't heard anything from him since last Spring.
So yeah, appreciate.
Right now he's playing what he's always played - own you in the fucking face music.
The only DJ I've seen who has never once disappointed me is Danny Howells. The man is the definition of the word "genius" when used in reference to DJ's. ![]()

Easily one of the greatest essential mixes of all time. How he starts out with progressive/tribal house to trance then ends it with more house is amazing
was just going to say, his 98 em is great. especially Greece 2000->Are We Here (Oral Mix)->Amethyst - Six
my number two fave!
Always will remember his residency at Arc. Some of the best sets of music I have ever heard in my life.
He's amazing.
But I didn't always think so, a few years ago I could never figure out why people loved him so much, but I have acquired a taste for his muzak, and the taste is gooooooood.
i'm almost afraid to admit this, but i think Howells replaced Luke Fair as my #1 after i saw him again in September.
i mean, maybe i just need to see Luke again. i'm not sure. what can i do!
also, Danny Howells - Continental Airlines Mix is one of my all-time favorites. it was hosted on his site years ago and i don't know if it's still out there anywhere, but i'll upload it for you later if i remember.
