Theatre w/ yourself?

Do you go to movie theatres (or "Cinemas", if you want to call it) by yourself? ever seen a movie you wanted to, but no one else did so you just went alone?

my housemate just got back from watching Beowulf. i kinda wanted to see it; but he didn't even ask...he just upped and left, and came back some 2-3 hours later and said he did.

I thought it was a bit odd that he went by himself. considering he's living w/ someone of the same age bracket.

me personally, i've never gone to the theatre by myself; and i don't really want to. it's much more fun/enjoyable w/ people.

isn't movie going supposed to be a social event?

thoughts?

I have before on business trips. I saw both 'Hulk' and 'Hellboy' by myself. Clearly, movies that my wife would NEVER agree to see in a theatre.

yea the whole idea of going to the movie theater by myself makes me feel uncomfortable, I've only done it once, and it just doesn't feel right especially after you start to see that everybody else in the theater has some one with them.

Only when I want to masturbate in the dark in peace.

thats how i feel too. it doesn't even have to be a date or anything. just seein' a action movie w/ the fellas is better than by yourself, you know?

Only done it once, but it was kinda nice. Relaxing

Done it a few times. A lot when I was in school, I would pop over to the cinema and watch a movie between classes (sometimes my breaks were 3-4 hours ). I loved it, it's a great way to just sit and enjoy the movie. The only person there to bother you with annoying comments will be yourself.

I've started wanting to go to the movies by myself again because Bunny hates haaates scary movies and there's a ton I want to see lol

Like if we needed further proof that your room-mate is weird.

What's wrong with going to the movies by yourself? I don't see anything wrong with it. People aren't going to point you out and laugh at you for being a loner.

Watching a movie is best watched by yourself too, it's not like you're going to talk during the movies, there's almost nothing social about the activity.

I don't think I've ever gone to see a movie by myself. Always with somebody else.

how about a conversation about things you liked/disliked afterwards? walking out of the theatre w/ you friends and everyone is remembering their fav part?

I do. The last movie i saw by myself was 300 lulz!

I was in Atsugi at the time and the only person i knew was my room mate who was with me. He had all ready seen the movie and was talking on the phone with his wife ahem, i mean fighting on the phone. So i said fuck it and went by myself. I dont really care if i wanna see a movie i'll see it.

I also saw The Greatest Game Ever Played by myself...literally, there was no one in the theater hahaha that felt weird but someone finally cam in like 30 min after it had started. lol

I've never went by myself. The only time I've had temptations is when I really want to go see a movie, ask a whole string of friends, and they all back out... but it's mainly due to my strong love/addiction to movie theatre popcorn. One of the local movie theatres here lets you butter your own popcorn and I love going crazy with it... mmmmmmm heartattack

This reminds me of that scene in The Naked Gun, when Neilsen and Presley are walking out of the theatre laughing their asses off...then it pans to the marquee and shows the movie was Platoon. Lmfao.

Thats the only good part of having someone there with you...otherwise you are just sitting in a dark room for a couple hours.

I love movies in the theatre but hate the experiance. Evertime I go there is always someone that has to ruin it for me. I end up more frustrated than anything.

I usually have someone else who will go with me, but if I can't find anybody to go and I still want to see it, I have no problem going alone. It's the same thing as going out to a club alone; lots of people seem to have the concept that they'll look weird and be bored. Wrong.

Posted by Lira on Nov-17-2007 00:41:

Done that quite a few times. It's fun

But, you're right, Will, displays of art in general (such as films and concerts) are supposed to be social events. I usually go to the cinema with my friends (or girlfriend).

However, my girlfriend is the only person I know who likes twisted European cinema so, whenever she's busy, I end up going on my own
