I have never been to a rave aswell...everytime i think of it though i think of pasifier girls and happy hardcore....i like the clubing atmosphere and i love trance...there are only a few clubs that have both together.

Posted by SpykeChyld on Apr-29-2002 04:38:

I have never been to a rave, personally. I'mnot real familiar with the Trance world yet, but I plan to increase my knowlage soon. Looking for a good rave around my hometown this summer, maybe.

However I also like the clubbing scene. Club women lol. And I'm still on hiphop dance (booty!) hahahahah.

I'll get to a rave one day.

Frrom what I hear i don't think they play to much trance at the raves around here. I know they play hard house which I like but i'd love toi hear some quality trance tunes without having to go to the UK or Ibiza.

man you got one fucked up image of what raves are like. All a rave is is a party that goes all night.....i dont know about your scene but in ours its all normal people.

When good DJ's come to Vancouver there almost always headlining the raves

nope, i've never been to a rave either... my friends usually tell me when & where they are but i've just never ended up going... i have gone clubbin' ALOT and enjoy the hell out of it !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!... there may be a huge difference, i dont know...i guess i'll just have to find out for myself but im sure we'll all end up finally gettin our asses around to attending a rave

I never been to a rave before but, I'm dying to go soon (this year?). I want it to be an excellent first experience at a "Trance Party". One thing about Trance that you can't say about other Genres of music is that you don't NEED drugs to have a good time. That's why Techno is 3rd on my "favourite music genres list". Ambient is my 2nd favourite because I "Chill out" a lot and I like the special effects that are thrown in some tracks. These can be and are sometimes like Trance's "special effects"!!!

I had never been to a rave until last year, when I went to Popsickle 3 in Frisco.

I don't drop, so I just planned to dance, enjoy the music.

Music fucking sucked, I don't like Happy Hardcore, Hard House, or Jungle.

Trance fucking owns that shit.

But it was funny to see so many people totally fucked up out of their minds, having dry sex on the floor, getting light shows and passing out, crazy ass costumes, etc.

It's like a Mardi Gras for E-tards.

However, the one thing I did notice, and no offense to anyone, because it's not a generalization, but everyone there was Asian or White, and almost 90% of the chicks were fugly. Some were good from afar, but far from good, knowhatimsayin'?

But everyone was friendly, and seemed to be having a good time, so I just kind of chilled and watched them have a good time.

But if I ever got like that, I'd want my friends to throw my ass in rehab.

That's kinda what the scene looks like here. I've seen a few pics of ppl just mangled on E. Like how can u have a good time if u don't even know what the fuck is going on? I also agree, most of the chix i've seen are ugly, that i've seen anyways.

It's an incredible feeling I'm told, but I just don't want to get to that degree of fucked up. I'm nervous about smoking weed too much (something I have never done more then once a week), and people who drop usually are open about how it's fucked up.

They talk about how their memory is worse, they are dependent on it, they have mood swings, they can't control their emotions, and basically can't act and feel stable.

It's fucking sad.

One of the friends buddies( I don't hang with this guy) averages about 20 caps a month and he can't even put together a complete sentence. I just him as an example when someone asks me to roll.

Posted by Devbert on Apr-29-2002 07:52:

I've alwasy been able to control smoking and drinking, I enjoy it much more the less often I do it.

But this one friend of mine who used to just smoke, went all out. Stoages, then booze, then E all the time (4 or 5 pills a weekend), Coke, Acid, Shrooms, LSD, all that shit. Each weekend he'd tell me about all the drugs he took, and on an average weekend he'd smoke a QO of Pot, 3 or 4 packs of Stoages, 3 to 4 pills, and an assorted amount of Coke, Acid, etc.

This went on for about 6 months until he realized how fucked up he was getting, and he checked himself into rehab.

Now he won't even smoke pot, because he told me that if he smokes weed, within a week he'll be doing coke. He can't control himself anymore. It's a fucking gateway drug for him.

Posted by D_G on Apr-29-2002 14:50:

Iv been to a house party, but never a rave

Posted by ExOn on Apr-29-2002 15:15:

I've been to alot of raves.. but i guess it's different in canada?
Here it's mixed blacks, whites, asian all partying.
It's less drugs here too and the girl are goodlooking

Posted by QuickStep on Apr-29-2002 15:50:

Damn, you guys have really missed out on where the music came from.

I know that raves are getting kinda lame because it's getting younger and more and more drugs are getting involved. But it's not just a "rave", it's suppose to be an EXPERIENCE.

I first exprerinced electronic music: trance, jungle, house, etc, at a rave and ever since then I always go to ones when I get a chance. Portland/Seattle scene was at it's peak when I first started going, and I loved it. Great times at the NAF, Indoor Soccer Center, Hockey Rink. I don't think I would be the same person if it wasn't for the rave scene. Trance and the "rave community has been a great factor in how I grew up and treated others.

If you guys/gals decide to go to a rave/party, just go with an open mind and not have those stigmas of what a rave is. Go to have a good time and experience the music you love. Ralphie B - Massive is just not the same until you heard it on a 30,000 watt system with 4000 other people. Clubs are cool to go a hear a great DJ, but raves are there to experience the music.

Have fun, that's all that matters.

Never.

Posted by Tony Morello on Apr-29-2002 17:34:

raves are awesome

there's a production company in calgary that is notorious for their immense sound system and insane visuals

500,000 watts!!

OMG, this one show i went to.. you should've seen the speaker towers... the sub towers must've been almost 20 feet tall!!

anywho, nothing can beat the experience of a good party
especially if there's multiple rooms and multiple styles going on

and for the drug issue... i take E every now and then now... i used to do 3-4 pills a weekend, but then i took a look at myself and decided to cut down... now if i do it, it's only like once a month, if even that...

there's a thin line between use and abuse... i see people crossing that line at every party i go to... and this rampant drug abuse is what is killing our scene, people need to be more smart, they need to look at the reasons why they go to raves... is it to dance and have fun, or to see how many pills you can eat...

this is why in calgary they cut raves down from 8 a month to 8 a year...

do drugs, don't let them do you, stay educated...

Never been to a rave.

I am in love with the Music, not the culture.

I drink alcohol but i haven't been drunk for about a year and a half. I have never tried any drugs including weed. I don't mind people that do it and control it but i know if i started i would probably not be able to control myself and start using them all the time so i chose to stay away from them.

Dude, you're gonna love Philly.

The scene is not as big as the MD/DC/VA area, but the kids are tight and we all know what's going on in the area. Parties are pretty cool, and mainly with the same groups of friends.

We have a crappy Trance scene, but we have some great DJs coming ot town all the time. Hit me up when you get here.
