WHITE FRIDAY - F*ck Da System!

Is anyone else (besides me) is giving a nice big fat middle finger to the craziness that has become of the so-called "Black Friday"? For those not in the know, it's a day when entire America goes absolutely F*CKING NUTS and camps out in front of the stores (sometimes for 24 hours prior to), so that they could buy a $5.99 trinket for $4.99... It's the time when stores are inducing people to be like cows - and BUY BUY BUY, buy the crap you don't need, buy the crap that stinks, JUST BUY SOMETHING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! DAMNIT!!!!!!!!!

Swear, it was pathetic watching a line of people, perhaps 1000+ strong camped out in front of Best Buy last year, to get some really pathetic deals, in limited quantity. YOu know the ploy - a $1000 TV for only $700 (read the small print: limited to 5 per store, no rainchecks, no rebates or coupons, yada yada yada). So, the really desparate schlobs will sit out in front of the store to "SAVE" $300. waidaminute... save??? yeah, well - this tv is $1000 but I got it for $700, so I SAVED!!!

No bitch, you just SPENT $700 on a trinket that you didn't want to buy at $1000... but bought at $700? You didn't save jack, idiot!

So, as my protest to the system and a little step towards a better future, I tell the stores to suck my dong, but my wallet is staying in my pocket.

On Black Friday, i ain't buyin sh!t.

Anyone else is fed up with this friggin circuis that big corporations expect us to perform in every year?

ii want to buy a scarf during black friday... or white friday.

after I get the Sony mp3 player w/ the free sony headphones., i'm with you.

Posted by emc^2 on Nov-21-2007 16:39:

seriously, has anyone found really amazing deals in the store that couldn't be found online? I'm sure the store is not selling crap at loss... or if they do - it's usually the crap they just can't get rid of otherwise. So they lube you up, you take the bait and SUCK IT.

Nearly everything I've seen in the adds, could be purchased somewhere else online for comprable price (esp. after you factor in the taxes, etc.).

dunno. IMHO Black Friday is for suckers.

I never go shopping after the holidays...Ill shop online most of the time anyway. I sure as hell wont camp out or wait in front of a store at 4am...stupid. Whats even more odd is the people that know how busy it will be but when they return from shopping they bitch about how busy it was. " Man you should have seen the crouds" "Its so crazy out there"....NO SHIT! You knew what you were getting into so STFU.

No thanks.

It's like a soccer mom fest, can't stand that shit.

On the other hand I work retail at the mall in a 5am-3pm shift and I am not showing up.

Here's a challenge: All black friday ads are availble online now. Go check out some of them - and if you cannot find same deal online or on ebay, check yourself into a center for ppl with special needs.

I don't see a single trinket being sold for anything less than I could buy it on any given day, if I only shop smart. Guess what, if I wanted to buy an LCD panel, I wouldn't spend $1000 in best buy for some piece of crap no name brand... I'd ask our AV guy for coupon codes he gets from Sharp every week and buy the damn LCD that's sold in the stores for $2000 for only $999, shipped to my house.

It's all about being SMART. oh, and for mere mortals - you can find those cods online - sometimes for free, sometimes you pay $100... Still better than paying $2000, if you ask me.

I might just go to film it and crack up about it later - watch all the chavs clammor and clobber each other to death. Who knows, I may get lucky and film someone stabbing someone (like it happened last year) - and get paid by news station!!!

The more there's hostility, the better!!! Fights, shootings, mugging? Terrific - I'm there with my cam and biiiig $$$ in my eyes. Don't disapoint me - if you go out, be sure to beat, stab, rob, or hurt someone! Someone's beer fund may depend on you being your true self - e.g a consumerist whore. Be all that you can be! yaaaaaaaai!

You're a credit to your species.

This is an amazing deal; retail is $1400. Additionally, I believe that price includes delivery.

For someone that needs to replace a washer & dryer, Black Friday is a great time to go to Best Buy.

At least it's a bright spot in light of the subprime credit crunch. If it wasn't for the holiday season, retailers would be ape shit trying to do something about falling consumer sentiments with oil being so high, credit shrinking, and a fallen dollar. YOu should thank god they're standing out in the cold!!

I didn't see any super good deals this year. Last year Circuit City had some great ones that I couldn't pass up. Got a Samsung widescreen monitor for well below any other price I'd seen (which I was in the market for anyway), and a little 1gig MP3 player for super cheap.

If someone is already in the market for a $1k tv and they wait until friday morning for the opportunity to pick it up for $700, then they are paying $300 less than they originally planned. Yet, you assume that everyone in that line at Best Buy didn't actually want a TV? Sure, there are going to be a few big item impulse buyers, but most of the impulse buying is on the smaller items like $10 video games and $15 MP3 players.

At any rate... nobody is forcing your hand to stand in line for hours, and you are STILL letting it get to you?

You're too bitter about Black Friday. It's not for suckers, if you're a smarty shopper ( as in know where to go, when to go and how to shop) you can get some great deals. That to me is not a sucker.

I feel no pitty for retailers. They are corporations with HUGE pockets, who are ripping you off on daily basis, squeezing out the "small guy", driving people out of business, and just generally f*cking everyone they could. Let them feel the pinch we're all feeling too. I don't give a sh!t if some fat (unt's stock portfolio plumets - I bet he's smart enough to invest into oil stocks, so loss on best buy stock would be well compensated on his Shell and Exon oil stocks.

Puh-leez. The big corporations f*cked this country into this mess and now I'm supposed to be thankful for it???? You got your logic all f*cked up, son. wake da f*ck up!

and what's the percentage of the people who are just in luck to have their washer/dryer shopping in the cards???

dunno... if my washer broke, I wouldn't wait a year to replace it. When my dryer broke... I went to sears, bought some parts and fixed the damn thing myself. Of course, Whirlpool would have me believe that I ABSOLUTELY MUST HAVE their latest and greatest "SUPER CUM WASHINATOR, SH!T DE-STAINER, PUKE DEODORIZING WASHER/DRYER COMBO WITH HIGH-SPEED INTERNET CONNECTION TO TELL YOU WHEN YOUR BOXER LINT HAS CLOGGED UP ITS DELICATE VENTS OR YOUR WATER HAS RUSTED THROUGH IT'S RUST-PROOF, TEFLON PLUTONIUM ALLOY PIPES. DID WE MENTION IT'S AVAILABLE IN GORGEOUS RED ASSBERRY OR COOL BLUE PEN0R HEAD COLORS?"... but I didn't bite and just fixed the damn thing. And my man pride is better for it, not to mention my wallet is not doing too shabby either.

Now, with all that money you saved doing it yourself, you have money left over for some black Friday shopping.

Posted by DigitalPhoenix on Nov-21-2007 17:45:

i'd love to hear your thoughts on the .99 cents store having a "Black Friday sale"

lulz. I like bargains as much as the next person, I just find the nastiness it brings out in people who stand in line for hours quite amuzing. I sure as heck not going to camp out in front of the store for 24 hours and then risk being squashed by stampeding crowd of idiots.

Wanna see humans at thier absolute stupidest? Go watch the doors open at big retailers on black friday. AMAZING. STAGGERING. HORRIFIC.

Posted by Frenchie on Nov-21-2007 17:49:

SO then what's your problem? You don't participate in it so really it's not your issue at all. Why are you mad at the people who do it? What did they do to you? All they are doing is getting the more bang for their buck. You could learn something from them, you know.

EDIT: It's like defensive driving, only for shopping. If you can survive that you can survive shopping all year long.
