Reptile show (yeah another off subject thread)

Not sure how many of you are into reptiles but they are having a show tomorrow in Westchester at the County Center. It's $9 to get in but you can save up to 50% off retail prices on reptiles and cages and stuff. Def gonna check it out as I've been thinking about getting a boa or python. I used to have all sorts of snakes when I was younger.....had to get rid of my boa constrictor and I moved to NY.

This time I think I'm gonna get something a little more exotic like a Green Tree Python or an Emerald Boa.

Damn right bro. Can't wait to do it all over again next year lol. Those iggywannas were fucking huge. We were like Steve Erwin that week only we came in close encounters with strippers and not deadly sting rays. hahaa

Posted by steven-neil on Nov-25-2007 01:54:

Yeah,,,BTW my crazy accent won't allow me to say "Iguana" so I have to say "Iggywana"....

Do me a favour...Put the Brian and shark pic up and the sailfish...Four months of pure fucking fun....

Posted by vtec junkie on Nov-25-2007 02:19:

Bro the best four months of my life.....period. Who the fuck gets to cut trees down with chain saws, set ant hills on fire, flip over a bobcat, almost get killed by gangsters in a high speed car chase, catch trophy bass, sharks, and sailfish, spend over a grand @ a strip club while watching boxing, and then go to WMC. Seriously did this all really happen??? Not to mention everything else in between not suited for the public....

The bait =

The fight =

Finally after over an hour of fighting this beast =

Sailfish off in the distance (Sheila turned into an instant professional photographer for taking these photos) =

The fight =

The catch and release =

Steve with his rock star Amberjack lol =

I used to own a 15ft python.. got to big had to give it away. I also had a 4ft ball python along with two tegus.

WOW what a show! So many exotic breeds it was insane. Everything from poison dart frogs to six foot nile monitors. The selection was amazing. I couldn't believe how expensive some of these exotic snakes were.....I'm talking $7,000 for a snake! Anyways after walking around looking at every exhibit for almost two hours I finally found what I was looking for. I got a juvenile Nabire Green Tree Python....he is really tiny and in his yellow stage....they change colors as they get older. Now I just need to figure out a name for him/her. Wish I took my camera to show you guys everything that was there.....but here is a pic of mine. BTW just to give you an idea of how big he is.....that's a drinking straw he is curled around.

wow thats awesome about that reptile show. i am a huge reptile love and would have loved to be able to attend that show if i lived in nyc. i actually have a 3 foot iguana right now and just got a ball python 2 months ago so hes only about a foot and a half long right now cause hes only 3 months old.

that gree tree python looks awesome...from what ive read about them theyre definitely for the more experienced snake owner because of how aggressive they are.

Posted by gimmebeatz on Nov-26-2007 03:38:

i just went to the reptile expo site and im glad they have the tentative 2008 dates they are having. definitely going to try and get to the city for the one in january.

yeah man ive had all sorts of reptiles growing up. used to have a four foot iguana when i was little. many corn and rat snakes......two ball pythons and a red tailed columbian boa. balls are very easy to care for once they get on a regular eating schedule and they dont get very big. green trees are not so much hard to care for but you must keep the humidity and day / night cycles to the t or they get stressed easily. they are pretty aggresive but if you get them young and handle them properly they can be great pets......but its def not a snake to wrap around your neck and walk around the house with lol...used to do that with my ball and red tail all the time. ill def be going to the show in ny so we should meet up or something. ive been thinking about starting to breed snakes.

yea i will definitely let you know if i can make it to the expo in early jan. if not that one then certainly the one after that. so u can buy reptiles at this expo as well? along with accessories and cages and things?
