DJs in 2007 that you would like to see back in 2008

i'm not talking about your omgfavorite dj who already tours north america several times a year--those guys already have their demand figured out. i'm talking about djs who only come around once or twice or maybe this was their first time stateside ever and there's no pattern of recurrence yet. here's my list...

gui boratto
booka shade live
sander van doorn
hernan cattaneo
satoshi tomiie
eric prydz
three
luke fair
funk d'void
desyn masiello*
trentemoller live

these guys have had only 1 appearance here this year and the feedback i got from being there is that they could do very well in '08 with 2 or more appearances a year. this is free market research for west coast promoters from us ta lead users!

* to be fair i showed up when he finished but everyone at the party was GLOWING from his set

fuck zabs for sure, but he spins way better by himself compared to one+one imo. lawler needs to revert back to lights out mode, sooo much better!

no doubt, but that back to back (6hour?) set he did at ruby from 11pm - 2am and then down stairs at slide from 2am - 5am was ridiculous!

Every DJ Rich just posted..

I gotta say; I wasnt impressed with Gui Boratto at all though. His sound was flat and boring. No TL variations.

Holden, srsly..
I download sets like crazy and I am continuously dissapointed.

Posted by ninetyninej on Nov-29-2007 23:10:

oh and paolo mojo.

(even though he kept txt'ing isa all night after the deep dish party up in Sac! )

Posted by bas on Nov-29-2007 23:12:

Would love to hear more of Nic, he doesn't come around quite as often as he should. A big +1 to that list Rich, mostly because I missed a lot of those guys when they came around the first time (Gui Boratto, Funk D'Void, Three)...fuck how did I manage that?

gui boratto played kind of a short set here with michael mayer and most of his tl was his own productions or some other kompakt record, but he played at mezzanine--with the funktion1--and the sound and crowd was amazing. most people knew tracks as they were coming in and everyone was going nuts til the end even though it was a thursday. he's a really laidback guy too.

i dunno how i managed to miss him every other time, but i'll be seeing paolo at anu in 2 weeks. now here's an example of a dj with relatively no name or demand in this market who still manages to come out on a regular basis... much credit to carrelli for making it happen!

funk d'void was soo sick, but his opener ladyhouse outshined him that night for about 20 min when she dropped some seriously fucked up outerspace techno shit that made me lose my mind. three is just a character...

Posted by skwallie on Nov-29-2007 23:28:

james zabiela for sure! i enjoyed him more when he played by himself the last time he was here with nic.

i also have to go with these ones also,
marco v
stoneface & terminal
sander van doorn
markus schulz
trentmoller (i hope it's a longer set next time)
