Stranded at Heathrow
After all the excitement and jubilation of finishing semester and waiting to go back home, my happiness was dealt a cruel blow when I found out that the travel operator who booked my ticket screwed up big time. I had cancelled and re-booked this ticket, and in the process the ******s mistakenly cancelled my outbound flight, so my return ticket is confirmed, but I have no ticket out of here.
Is late at night in Bombay at the moment, and rooms at the airport and around start at 150 a night (
). So I have nothing to do but sit on this dirty floor, as its the only place with a wall socket. Luckily the wi-fi works.
Still.

^^ Yeah, thanks for that, but even those start from 40 on weekdays plus the cab to and fro.
Found a neat little corner here, unplugged a huge christmas tree (surprisingly empty in terminal 3 tonight), and am sitting on a nice coffee table, laptop charging, wi-fi on full blast
sleep at the airport, ive done it many times
just keep one eye on your luggage
Keep every single receipt you get for every purchase you make of things you needed in order to accommodate yourself for the night (food and a hotel), and send it to the company who fucked up your itinerary.
If they fucked it up, they should cover the cost.
have anal sex with an airport employed local.
you'll never have to see her again.

| Originally posted by smakmagik Yep. Sadly, it doesn't always work that way in India, where even if you're 100% right, and they're 101% wrong, you can't expect them to comply. I will try though. Those bastards have cost me a good 15 hours of home-time. |
Why pay people to purchase tickets when it is beyond easy to do now?

| Originally posted by Theresa Meh, I don't think there is anywhere that you couldn't fight that. Their job is to provide you with a confirmed booking to get you to where you need to be. That's why you paid them a lot of moula. Instead... you got fucked. You should be reimbursed for your costs, and the "booking fee" they charged you. Total B.S. |

good website for when you are stuck in airports, lots of info and stories about the best places to go to sleep in pretty much every airport in the world. Also good for finding good spots for during layovers.
By the way I hate Heathrow with a passion.

So now, after a 12 hour halt, I get to the customer service deck at 5 am, show them my ticket, explain the situation. In the time before this, I called the airline call centre in India, the airline call centre in London and my travel operator, ALL three of whom assured me that my ticket was fine last night, and a case of 'no-show' has been registered in my name.
I was at the airport 4 hours before take-off, and now they tell me I didn't show up! I explained to the customer service desk that I was told my travel operator screwed up and cancelled my ticket. His face said it all. He went inside the office briefly and came back saying you ve been booked on a flight at 11 45 am, and we wont charge you for anything.
I'm positive it is the airline's fault now and they re trying to cover it up by not charging me and pushing me on to an already empty flight. What can I do in such a case? They made me wait for 18 hours doing nothing, all because of their ineptitude and on top of that told me it was my travel operator's fault.
Pissed.
