Following your dreams
I just want to tell everyone here how happy I was, and still am, when I found out today that I'll be gracing the same decks as Jon O'Bir!!
It may not seem like much tomany of you, but it means everything to me!
I moved to Toronto because it was the place that introduced me to the scene back in 2000 and I haven't lived in Ontario since. Travelling through Western Canada and Australia, I always hoped to one day move to Toronto and actually become a part of the scene I fell in love with.
A LOT has changed since then. Toronto doesn't seem to have much of a trance community anymore, but of all the places in to choose to live in Canada, I always thought that Toronto was the "place to be" for any hope for up and coming dj's like myself. I swore I'd do my best to come here and do what I can to help support the trance scene in any which way possible! So here I am now, only 6 months on, and I've got myself a residency at a fantastic (and somewhat legendary) club, and will now be playing with International DJ's, such as Jon O'Bir, who inspire me very much!!
It's taken along time coming, and aprroaching my 30th birthday, I wasn't sure if it would ever happen. So I guess my messge is to help any young or up and coming DJ's (or anyone reading this for that matter) that are out there with a little bit of simple advice; Don't let time, people, or age ever discourage you from following your dreams! As small as they may be, each decision you make helps define who you are. And remember that by surrounding yourself with those who positively influence you and your dreams are best inspiration you'll ever get!
With that being said, there's certain people on here that I want to thank for making my decision to come to Toronto, one of the best decisions I ever made, and for helping me come closer to my own dreams!
Navid (Hardcore Trancer). This guy's got more passion and drive to see our trance scene succeed and progress than anyone! Thanks for seeing and believing in me, and giving me the chance to play regularly at Club Rio!
Barry (DJ Ampz). You gave me my first shot here when I played for you at the Vault many years ago, and your continued support has always made me want to do better. You've been a mentor and a great friend, and your dedication to edm and to Amplifed Radio is something all music lovers should appreciate as much as I do!
and Sonny (Stilez, DJ Robbie Lopez)!!
MY BOY LIFE 4 LIFE! I owe everything to you man! You've got a pure love for music and if it wasn't for you, I would still be and the bottom of the crab bucket. You've showed me the ropes of the Toronto scene and helped me understand what it takes and what people look for out here. It's been the best pleasure ever meeting and knowing you, and you've definitely help me grow as a dj and as a person! Respect!
Others that deserve a mention are Aaron Joseph, DJ Tygon, DJ Bombtrack, 35 and Hooked, Luke Sykes, Josh van Aalst, Yohan, Dennis Hahn, Darroo, Mark Lai, Aquayak, Nightdreamer Events, Mobius, Dave Walsh and all Fourtwentyiers (sorry if i forgot anyone, I can always edit this later :P). Keep doing what you guys do best. We need more people like you in our scene to keep it healthy and strong!
Vive le trance!
Wish you the best of luck in the future dude!
I hope to see you travel all around the world one day playing at the best clubs.
