What a shit line up I feel so bad for Gourley and Glycerin, having to play with those two must be fucking TERRIBLE!

To quote a friend of mine, "Junkie XL must not have been available"

ironically they still chose them over you...hmmmm could it be because of your attitude..Perhaps?

the second you start being a nice person, I think you will do really well as a DJ.... until then.... until then....

Amen!!! You'll be surprised what big promoters, big DJ's, and who knows who else reads this boards. They just don't post, but they read it all the time.

Posted by the_jerk on Jan-09-2008 19:33:

I totally agree. And remember, sarcasm is sometimes hard to detect on message boards.

Posted by Andrieux on Jan-09-2008 19:42:

Wonder if he will take his shirt off in a drunken stupor and jump off the railing into the crowd

I think this goes for other DJs too. I've seen some that are a bit cocky and others that are always sarcastic and quite honestly... it only gets you so far.

Oh that's a big "FOR SURE!" You'd be surprised!

Fuck me...

You think Steve Aoki is a good DJ then? Have you ever heard him spin?

My my standards have fallen around here...and expecting everyone to fall in love with every line-up, no matter how ridiculous and completely devoid of talent, is absurd. Thank God some people still have an ear for good music...

#1 where in my statement did I ever say I like or dislike anyone?

#2 Why are you coming after me? I simply stated that I think if his negativity came down a few notches that he would be more successful in life.

#3 What I offered in this post is a free guest list if anyone is interested. and judging by the quantity of emails I am receiving.... they are...

Sometimes people want to go out with their friends and have a good time. Is the lineup going to be better some nights over others... sure... does that mean you should stay home and do nothing... no.... thus the offer to come out for FREE....

I am all for free speech, and I am all for opinions on things... however there is a difference between speaking your mind, and just flat out being a whiny bitch. People are sick and tired of hearing certain peoples negativity on everything...

There is a simple solution.. If you don't want to go DONT GO... if you don't like whats on TV .. change the fuckin channel... You are being a bigget, and I for one do not like downers... you make the world a shitty place...

onE lovE

p.s. Clovis you too would be a lot more effective as a DJ, if you open your ears, not your mouth all the time... you both have a lot to offer.... if you would keep your attitude positive, and don't associate yourself with people that make other people unhappy... that's a fact of life.. either get on that bus, or let that bus drive over you.

this was a simple post allowing people to get into one of their favorite places for free, and you two drama queens had to make it about you... IT'S NOT ALWAYS ABOUT YOU (believe it or not)

Posted by bas on Jan-10-2008 20:34:

Some people are also sick and tired of Vanguard having a sub-par lineup every weekend. Don't see why I can't voice my opinion on that. I'm not going to apologize for stepping on people's toesessess.

ESPECIALLY Steve Aoki and Mark Tabberner. Fuck sake.

Thanks coach, I'll be sure to take DJing tips from your holy-ness. The fact is, this is the second time you've made stupid assumptions about bas because you don't agree with some post on a message board. Newsflash: Reality > The Internets. Don't take everyone's posts at face value and read into them so much. Yeah some people don't like Steve Aoki, theres no need for you to get your panties in wad and start mouthing off at people and giving them life lessons. Also, stop acting like we just go around to threads all over TA and post inane negative comments all over the place just because YOUR thread took a hit. If you actually READ other threads you'd notice that simply isnt the case.
You have no fucking clue who bas is, and most people know hes one of the funniest and nicest people around. Including sir Woody. Last time you accused him of not getting laid in the hotchicks with douchebags thread because a joke rubbed you the wrong way. It's absurd. The dude has a hot girlfriend he's been with for over 3 years. But it is much easier to assume shit and talk smack, and I see why you do that. Reciprocally, why don't you act like a nicer person instead of making shit up about people you dont like on an internet forum?

A few other folks in this thread have expressed disdain for Aoki, I don't see you talking shit to them...what gives?

Posted by S Nate Faulkner on Jan-10-2008 21:45:

I think I may be partly resposible for Aoki at Vangaurd.

My roommate loves him and she is/was well connected in the type of crowd Aoki usually plays for and I introduced her to Jeremy and he listens to her suggestions.

I have never actually heard him spin, but I do love the Benihana, so how bad could he be?

Posted by |Thrax| on Jan-10-2008 21:54:

Benihana is in a point: flashy, overhyped food with no substance, much like Aoki's DJ'ing..
And no, there are no steam volcano's made of onions on the turntables.
What kind of trick is that anyway? It's called evaporation.

p.s. My opinon. TYVM.

So you're saying I need to pound down 5 decanters of hot sake to enjoy his set? Because I am not against trying that....

Posted by |Thrax| on Jan-10-2008 21:59:

$13 a weak drink at Vanguard and no sake.. not worth it IMO.

Posted by djjoshuaallen on Jan-10-2008 22:00:

have you ever seen one of the chef's make the volcano upside down at a teppan grill spot? That is so neat

Posted by BLOWZO on Jan-10-2008 22:01:

Clovis... Please read the first page again, and notice all the people that agreed... Please note that one of those people is someone that you mentioned. People are just sick of hearing constant crap in every post... so much negativity.

The whole "never get laid thing" that you are bringing up from weeks ago obviously was a joke, so please take a piece of your own advice and don't take everything at face value....I never once claimed to be perfect, in fact I am the first to admit I am far from it.

I'm not saying post positive all the time, all I'm asking is that the negativity is cut down... it gets you nowhere... and quite honestly everyone is just sick of it..

I love you clovis.. you are the wind beneath my wings...

I think you all need to just go there on Saturday and start a cuddle puddle in the corner. PLUR! :P

don't they then flip the little shrimp heads in the volcano, and in the chefs shirt pocket....wii fun

Posted by vet26 on Jan-10-2008 22:02:

It certainly is one of the weaker DJ lineups at the Vanguard in a while. I would see Kid Millionare aka aoki spin on tuesdays at cinespace because my roommate loved to go...It got old pretty quick.....Having said that, I will be going for sure, and the price is right to have a good time with friends in a great Hollywood venue...nothing wrong with that. Im prepping a large list of names of Vanguard Nubies to send to BLOWZO, thanks again.

Regarding the back and forth going on over in this thread, I just think that the intent of the OP was to inform us of a cool offer, independent of the talent. For the first response to be so negative, of course its going to rub the originator of the thread the wrong way.

Clovis, its like if you had a free list going on for viewing of the work of your favorite photographer and you posted the info... If the first response you got was something along the lines of 'that dude fkn sucks' or something to that effect, well....I think that that would rub you the wrong way as well

Thats all im going to say regarding that...perhaps there is some history between all of you, and Ill gladly stay out of that.

Keep groovin'.
