What is the purpose of MTV's sweet 16?

I mean is it to show kids how awful is to be spoiled, and how stupid people turn when they get whatever they want and that money is not all there is? (At least I hope so).
I mean that show irritates me, I can't see how can you show it like it's suppose to be something interesting and good, like it's something which shows what every teen's goal should be? It's crazy, they're showing the stupidiest, most spoiled and most pathetic kids (and often their parents) that i have ever seen, and they're showing it like it's something GOOD.
What the fuck is wrong with this world.
So, what do you think, what's the purpose of the show?

p.s. this could also turn into an open discussion about kids these days.

Honest to goodness truth, the purpose of the show is to make money for MTV. Bottom line. Showing all the little stink-face bratty rich kids and their parents is just to draw all the normal people to tune in and be like . The more stink-face and bratty the poopchunk kids are, the more people go and the more noise it creates around the show, thus drawing more viewers. The whole attraction is that it's an insight to a life that is so much different than our own. Unfortunately, the normal people want to (or think they want to) live like that and that's why they watch. I think.

The only 2 times I have watched this, I was at a friends house, and even after pleading they did not change the channel, so I left the room before punching a hole in the wall..,

It makes me want to pitch a show to MTV called 'On My 16th Birthday Ygrene Straight Punched Me Right In The Damn Throat'. You can probably guess the premise.
