-- Learn how to dance...
Pages (2): [1] 2 »
Okay... I'm not the best dancer out there on the floor, but I can hold my own when necessary. At the shitty bars in Winnipeg, there aren't a hell of a lot of guys who can dance, let along walk, with any resemblance to a beat. I can hold a beat and dance with it reasonably well.
However...
I wanna be a hell of a lot better. I watch some of the guys (and the girls too, of course ;-) and they just seem so fluid and easy. Maybe it's just the way my bones have been fused together, but I can't seem to do it.
I know this is a pretty hard question to ask/answer, but...
Anyone got any ideas where I could learn how to dance any better???
I don't know what kind of anser I'm expecting, so throw something at me and surprise me!

mmm...I don't have any tips for you to help you dance better but I think the main thing is just to have fun while you dance and don't care what other people think..If you just let loose and feel the musik, you will look and feel better when u dance.
hope that helps..
or just follow the dancing man down there...lol
just move the way you want to move when the music slams into you...
Let loose EVERY WEEKEND. (I do
)
And if you wan't to: Embarras yourself for a few evenings and try to adapt a few movements of someone you think dances really cool. (maybe not a girl!)
Only two ways I know. And then you get your own style.
Yea man, Dancing is about freedom....don't worry about what other people are doin....My club there are alot of Break dancers and holy shit, they are good!!!! They even have competitions there....now that's intimidating, but I don't care....Fuck em, I dance how I want, I usally only dance with my female friends though,,,,,makes me feel more comfortable
yeah you should dance how you feel. but i learned a lot by watching really good dancers. good luck
Well ... what a coincidence ... I'm offering rave dance lessons for the low low price of $49.95/hour ... don't miss this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity ! CALL NOW ! ... hehe
no seriously - the only way you'll learn to dance *good* is by going up to the biggest bass-bin at the party, closing your eyes and just grooving to the music ... that's all there is to it. With practice and experience you'll get better ...
peace
top 10 suggestions
1. pick up moves from good dancers on the floor.
2. come up with a style that fits u.
3. practice @ home, in front of a mirror. u dont know how bad or good ur moves are unless u can see ur self.
4. pick up a sport like swimming, basketball, or matial arts. These and other activities make u more in tune with ur body, helping u flow on the floor, and open u to new ways of moving.
5. stay balanced and use body symmetry.
6. dont over exert ur self. when u get tired on the floor, it shows. take a break or find the baseline and dance to that.
7. dont drink too much alcohol (makes 4 sloppy dancing).
8. if ur dancing with a girl make some eye contact and interact with her. i use a different style when dancing close.
9. use ur whole body not just arms. think about the 3dimentional space ur moving in.
10. dont think 2 much on the floor. react to the music and just do what comes natural.
But don't forget to stretch you muscles befor you begin!
Don't think... Just move
And yes, you should look a someone who dances really great and try to copy that style (don't stand behind him and move EXACTLY like he (if you're a male person LOL) does, hehe

I don't go to clubs and hence I don't dance like club hoppers.I couldn't hop to jungle for the longest time (hopefully you know what I mean by that)until someone told me to lift off on the downbeat not come down... hehehe , hadn't anticipated how hard it is to explain.Basically with house your feet are off the floor on the bass but with jungle you lift off when the bass is finishing,I only explain this because every other kind of dancing is easy .Also jungle & house is all we've got around here, lol!everyone has already said it but I'll reinforce their view to watch yourself and others!A lot of Winnipegers really do know how to dance ,just depends on where you go!
well you could go to some dancing courses.. maybe you can do the "cha cha cha" or the "quickstep"?? Yes that would certainly make an impression on the girls (but what kind off? ;-)
Oh try do some breakdancing moves.. you know twist on 1 arm.. then break it.. You sure will get a lot of attention.
Try to do another move.. the "headspinn" but first shave your head.
While dancing bounce into everyone around you. (especially the big guys, yes the pea-heads sugar :-)
When you are not dancing just (resting) just walk slowly through the crowd. Keep this up for at least an hour.
Try to get the "gabber" scene back by doing the (in)famous "hakken"
While dancing.. sing: eeeh heeee hoooo the whole time
or
Sing: Styler_007 IZ YO DADDY
Drink a lot.. and try dancing against every girl
Think about ALL the girls at the party.. it will really make you confident..
While dancing.. once in a while help the dj out with giving his vinyl a scratch.. Everyone will love you even more.
okay after having read my own post i see what kind of an asshole i am
hehe
Dont do this at a club kids, if you dont follow my advise and just listen to igottaknow youll get there
Haaaaaa!! Henkie, that's cool!
You can also puke all over the dancefloor to get a nice slippery surface, usefull for breakdancing and making splits!

Hey Styler_007, check out this site...

... plus video of some incredible dancers (watch and learn) :P
Man styler the only thing you need to do is drink a respectable amount of alcohol to get you just to that stage where you aren't looking around to see if people are watching you and then listen to the music and go FUCKING CRAZY.
It is important however:
>that no one knows you
>it is actually trance music being played and not like britney spears
>you're not the only one on the dancefloor(speaking from personal experience here - not good !)
>some real good breakdancer was just breaking next to you and then you're that drunk you decide to show your skills, however you don't realise you don't have any !( all i can say is NOOOOOOOO!)
Anyways peace
Well, whatever the DJ is playing, I think it's best to move guided by your feelings! The music creates a natural flow you can follow and your voluntary job is to express how that makes you feel. I think you are faking if you try to prelearn some moves or imitate what other people are doing. If you do that, you aren't really enjoying the music but rather just POSING there to look good. Well, if you hope to score, thanks to your fancy ass-shaking technique; fine, but it's very unlikely =)
I get good vibes at raves when 1) I see that people are SMILING and having a good time 2) they dance in ecstacy and let their good feelings show 3) hundreds or even thousands of people all enjoy the same incredible event... all in synch... there's a great feeling of unity.
PS. Posing & chatting at the chillout is a totally acceptable alternative
Good luck!

check that out, haa haa
I went a bit wild on the dancefloor tonight myself.
Ahhh... I love dancing with a beautifull girl in front of me.
I was one of the few people who could actually dance at the place.
I almost forgot to tell u bout the dancing equation.
Dancing Skill / Amount of Space on the floor - awesome dancers in ur area
worst scenario:
(no skill/lots of room - 10 awesome dancers)
1/10-10 = -9.9
ok scenario:
(no skill/not much space - 0 awesome dancers)
1/2-1 = -.5
best scenario:
(best skill/lots of room - 0 awesome dancers)
10/10-0 = 1
conclusion:
lack of space can hide poor skills
while ample space highlights good skills
ps
i think this formula needs some work
