Sasha - The emFire Collection: Mixed, Unmixed & Remixed [emFire]

"A definitive view of Sashas emFire catalogue featuring originals, remixes and his award winning score to the movie New Emissions Of Light & Sound...

The launch of Sashas emFire label was undoubtedly one of the main talking points during the last half of 2007. Four original tracks were released and the discussion raged: which was best or least favourite be it at home or in a club? Was Mongoose really Sasha? And, of course, who killed Sparky? Now the debate is set to continue as Sasha releases The emFire Collection.

Disc 1 plays host to The Remixes, which invites four of the worlds most exciting producers to present their interpretations of the emFire catalogue by way of a totally unique twist. Each carefully selected artist was commissioned to provide two versions - a traditional club and alternative, leftfield mix. The result is a very special, duplicitous ride through the minds of Slam, Audion, Radio Slave and The Field totaling an unmixed 70 minutes. The anticipated, incredible results beg one question which do you prefer?

Disc 2 features 3 exclusively edited originals and the previously unreleased Spangled Rubdub of Coma alongside Sashas 40 minute, mixed score to the surf movie New Emissions Of Light & Sound. The score, which has never been released in audio format, recently took top honours at the X Dance Awards (www.x-dance.com) that run in conjunction with the esteemed Sundance Film Awards and are effectively the Oscars equivalent of the sport movie industry. A beautiful, haunting ride, the extended piece provides a fitting conclusion to this bumper emFire package.

Finally, in spite of 2 discs and over 2 hours of music, the Collection will be released at the mid-price point of just 7.99 (or near equivalent overseas); arguably one of the best value releases youll find in 2008

Sasha The emfire Collection: Mixed, Unmixed & Remixed is out April 14th UK & ROW & TBC North America on emFire."

interesting?
i'm really not feeling that Park It In The Shade (Audion Deep Steeple Mix). thats the only one I've heard, besides the one from his surfing video.

that's pretty cool. too bad it's so far away...

what's the deal with the "edits"? i haven't done the math, but i am assuming they needed to be edits to fit on disc 2 along with the score?

Finally something to look forward to from Emfire!

This looks like it's got loads of potential.

Was it not titled "DJ Three's Star Spangled Dub" originally. Maybe it's the "Spangled Rubdub" mentioned in Disc 2

Posted by iammesol on Feb-25-2008 18:37:

Indeed it was.

It was, I think they just shortened the name on the new release. Doubt that the one on the album is the same, since it would mention Three's name.

Does that mean "The Field" is/are the winner(s) of the mongoose remix contest?

Radio Slave and Slam, he's calling in the big guns. Can't wait to check those out.

Considering Sasha & Co. couldn't come up with a single decent production thus far with Emfire, I'm not all together surprised.

Emfire has been on life support since it's inception as far as I'm concerned - it's about time there's even a whisper of potential coming from the label.

Both of those could have been great if they were mastered correctly and didn't contain so many irritating, dissonant, glitchy noises.

The remixes of those two tracks are easily what I'm anticipating most in this release.

I just don't think it's appropriate to call it "The emFire Collection." To me, when you make a label collection with that title it should be of your top releases over a large span of years. Say something like, "The Bedrock Collection" or "The Hooj Collection."

This just seems like... I don't know. The best word I can come up with right now would be 'pompous.' Even that doesn't really say what I'm trying to say. Not needed, imo.

*shrug*

At last something good to look forward to !

Posted by Ted Promo on Feb-26-2008 00:39:

Maybe I'm not hearing something, but all of the remixes did nothing for me.

Posted by Alex on Feb-26-2008 01:58:

Life support as far as mad respectz from us music nerds?

Because I imagine Sasha's done alright so far, given the chart topping he's done.

Not that I think any of his tunes so far have been good at all, in fact to me they've all been ABSOLUTE SHIT but to deny they've made money is pretty dumb.
