Why I love the DJ Promotion forum: an open letter.

I know this doesn't really belong here, but I just wanted to thank all of the DJs and artists that post their mixes in this section of TA.

At work, daily, I do about 2-3 hours of real work, and even then I got my iPod on. It's been a fantastic find for me to download all of your mixes and throw them in randomly between the Essential Mixes that I have + other tunes. There is some real talent and a lot of great mixes that have unique sounds to them.

I can honestly say there have been no two mixes similar to each other. I know I haven't commented on everyone's that I've checked out yet, but honestly I download 2-3 mixes everyday and get through them by 5 pm.

This forum has opened me up to so many new styles, and brought back some memories with old tunes. So from the bottom of my heart thanks to everyone that contributes. I wish I had the time to get through all of your individual mixes and comment, but the work week is only so long. However I encourage everyone to keep up with DJing and production and keep putting out material. There are some really dope DJs here, and you guys don't even know it.

Ok, I'm going to take your collective dicks out of my mouth now. CHEERS!

DJ Promotion Appreciation Topic.

Thank You all for the great sets, keep up the good work.

Indeed. The quality posted here daily often surpases that of any "professionally" mixed mixcomp one could purchase.

Good thing, I almost came.

And, agreed. This particular sub-forum is the number one place I find great new music to play out, as well as providing me with a great soundtrack here in the office.

i completely agree!

there is often so much more potential than some "superstar" djs have! i find about 30-40% of my later-bought tracks in here!

awesome subforum!

Here and the Matt Hardwick forum is where i grab 90% of all my mixes!! Just wish i had more time to listen to more!!

+1,000. i couldn't agree more, the skill displayed in this forum is phenomenal; i'm constantly amazed at the quality and creativity at work in other TAs' mixes. awesome stuff. i barely listen to "superstar" DJ mixes anymore - i'm always browsing the promotion forum for new music.

i didn't realize how much i listened to this until i noticed the other day i had 5GB worth of TA mixes (maybe not a lot for some people on here, but that's a lot for me!)

sometimes i wonder what the guys in this forum would be doing if they were as well-known/promoted/hyped as your regular "superstar." probably touring the world...

Posted by denys envy on Feb-29-2008 20:23:

can't just be a DJ anymore. i imagine if half of the DJs here started putting time and work into producing they'd get pretty big. i just can't find time or money to invest.

between work, soccer, theatre, the girlfriend, and going out/playing on the weekends - i barely get time to eat/sleep. but thank god this DJ Promotion keeps me entertained at work

I think discogs mixes forum is still the best place to find quality stuff. There's more techno than here, way less trance and probably more weird/original/unusual stuff. It's less focused on current tunes, a lot of old school mixes are available, maybe too much.
Also overall, people know more their stuff on discogs than on TA (I don't mean nobody knows his stuff on TA) which isn't surprising as for the most part these are long time (obsessive) vinyl collectors.
And the funny (to me) 'progressive' adjective widely used on TA is almost unknown there.

Since this is a rare occasion where I've actually seen TA members thank each other, I'd like to jump in and say thank you as well, to all of the djs who have posted their mixes in this forum. Some fantastic talent noted, indeed.

Werd.

I very rarely buy mix compilations, because I can get better quality from this forum - and it doesn't cost me anything

Keep up ze good work everyone.

I share the same sentiments as the other posters .Many of my friends do not own pcs, so when I play them mixes/sets from off here my kudos is absolute.
I only wish more downloaders would reply to posters .I always think credit where credit is due.
A site of true enrichment, along with some cheeky bastards- but that adds to the spice.
Much appreciation and respect for all your hard work. I.T.A.L.Y.x

I honestly hadn't ventured into here much when I first joined TA a few years back, as I never really have much time to check out online sets. And for whatever reason, I just assumed there'd be nothing but Armin-wannabes filling things up in here ("hey, sykonee, how's about some crow with that foot?").

So imagine my pleasant surprise when I discovered there was actually quite a bit of musical variety and a lot of humbleness to be had here. Heck, it even inspired me off my duff and actually try my hand at the ol' mixed set thing again. I still don't know if I'll be able to check out much, but at least I know there is some good shit to be had here.

discogs has some wonderful mixes for sure.

I listen to a few sets here and there and most tend to be pretty high quality. The amount of downloads (as a poster) you can get from here are pretty good, and the diversity of stuff is not bad at all for a "trance" board. There are quite a few talented jocks here who dig deeper and play stuff that isn't obvious.

This forum rocks!

Posted by jupiterone on Mar-02-2008 00:19:

tru dat

Posted by Ysek on Mar-02-2008 02:18:

Thumbs up

I agree with all of you. I often find a better collection of tracks in the mixes posted here than by any superstar DJ's mix. Keep those mixes coming!

Posted by leph555 on Mar-02-2008 03:55:

first honest, no bullshit, no flaming topic on TA in years!

thank you TA dj's!

Posted by DJHolograf on Mar-02-2008 10:06:

You know...I used to play out...and it gets old when you deal with all the drama behind the scenes. I love spinning music. It's been a true passion of mine for a very very long time. I love it. And I think that it's true when it comes to DJ's here vs superstars. There is so much potential, it's unbelievable. I know that I spin from the heart and I can imagine that all the other DJ's on here do that as well which is simply amazing.

Best of luck to all you fellow DJs...keeping the music alive!

Posted by Yohan on Mar-02-2008 23:46:

You mean, people actually listen to my stuff?

Honestly, a lot of you that post mixes have inspired and educated me on variety of tunes, for that which I am grateful.
