Talking Tiesto @ Mansion

Who's going???

Does anyone know what time his set is?

Posted by mar46017 on Mar-02-2008 21:26:

Hey, you are my friend on myspace! =)

Even though I am a huge Tiesto fan, I chose David Guetta's Fuck Me I'm Famous party on Saturday night. But I'll catch Tiesto Friday night @ Ultra.

mansion is at the beach, so time restrictions are still on. mansion will have to close by 5 so he will probably start at around 2 am.

HE does not.. for that you can blame promoters/venue. he charges a set amount per hour. its the venue/promoters job to then breakeven or make a profit

Posted by copahc on Mar-06-2008 21:14:

no thats not true. i talked to a promoter for the club. he said tiesto receives his payment from the door revenue and controls the door comps

rofl. that doesn't mean he sets the ticket price. like hiram implied, usually a club will use door revenue to pay the dj fee and pocket the liquor sales. clubs, of course, get greedy and jack up ticket prices to generate more profits.

mansion is selling 1500 tickets @ 100.00$ a pop. do the math. not even tiesto's fee approaches what they're making from the door alone.

as far as comps, every dj has a private guest list they give to the door to hook up their peeps.

Gotta agree w/ Copa on this one. Most DJ's charge a fee...however I've also heard something about Tiesto wanting up to 80% of door revenues.

I heard he received about 130k for two nights Labor Day weekend @ Jet Las Vegas. Jet made it all and some the first night!

Posted by drEamer on Mar-07-2008 00:10:

i would think Tiesto's fee for Mansion and WMC approaches 100,000. from every promoter i have heard from, his normal booking fee for an average saturday night is $60,000......and this is nothing average

his 2 jet gigs were 5 hours each. 130k works out to 13k/per hour which is the median range of what he and some other big jocks usually charge (and it was labor day).

again, whether the fee is coming from a percentage of the door, a standard rate, or some combo of both, he's not setting the door price.
(if i remember correctly, those jet tix were very pricey so i don't doubt that they made their money back the first night.)

either way, mansion is gonna need to gouge somebody on this night cause i think this will be the most poorly attended tiesto wmc gig to date.

that would be my guess as well. and if mansion is trying to recoup almost twice that via the door it's on them.

Posted by hiram on Mar-07-2008 01:42:

i highly doubt that a DJ, any DJ, charges a standard per hour fee and then also wants a cut of what is made at the door. where does the venue win here?

Posted by MJM74 on Mar-07-2008 03:29:

& what rank is he again??

Posted by PatMcGroin on Mar-07-2008 03:35:

when you think about it though... pvd/sander k tix are also now up to $80. armin at $60. so its not too far behind tiesto. although of course, one show is good and one isnt, but thats besides the point.

inflation is a bitch.

Imagine what the door prices are gonna be.

Posted by element-y on Mar-07-2008 04:30:

Economically speaking though, if there is demand at prices even with the increase, why not. If it works, it works.

Another rumor about tiesto is he HAS TO know who plays at the party or before him, and if he doesnt like the artist, he wont play. Wonder if that is true. Seems like bullshit.
